I'd love a Defender, but would it make you look like a cock?
my brothers got a defender 90 and 110 and i'd say get the td5 if you want one. the new ones have horrendous engine problems as my mate has found out, a rebuild and lots of little parts gone wrong. yet the old td5's if serviced properly (which some people seem to forget), are bombproof and not slow for a diesel especially with a tunit ecu upgrade. some people may think your a **** but then most people you speak to that don't have a scoob think your a **** for driving a scoob. if i had the money i'd buy a twincab with the ifor williams back on it, hold money better and most havn't been ragged about as its usually the wifes car.
Nothing to do with that, more like these tools in their X5s and RR lording it up down the high street thinking they own the road. Actually come to think about it, where I live it's mainly their wives driving them all of 2 miles to drop off the kids to school because they are incapable of getting a bus to school like the rest of us used to.
I thought I was a bit of an off road champion in my faithful Truck.
With these Grizzlies.....

Coupled with my super select gearbox I thought I was invincible...

But I soon came unstuck (Or stuck as the case maybe).....parked on freshly washed up sand reading my Sunday Paper, I noticed that the sand was looking much closer than it did when I parked up.
So I opened the door to see that the sand was indeed close to the bottom of my door.
The fresh sand was covering thick black mud and I had sunk in it, no problems I thought, and selected 4WD LowRatio with Diff locks set, clicked the shift into reverse.... this will fly out with my Grizzlies, I thought.

Instead of flying backward to the tune of the " A team ", the bastid thing dug four holes and sunk to its belly.
And to add insult to injury, the feckin tide was coming in.

I stupidly phoned the AA, who told me they dont do beach retrieval, and informed me that the beach was not a highway/byeway, and if the tide takes the Truck I wont be insured......" Cheers, Thanks very much for your help, FU2 ".
So I had to phone a friend.....
Good job he was in, as the tide came in pretty quick, well over the top of the Truck.

His tyres are slightly better than mine....
I always make the wife walk ahead of me now, a bit like a sinking sand sweeper..
So to answer the original post, " I'd love a Defender, but would it make you look like a ****? ", not as much of a **** as you would look stuck in a Delica.......... " 99er anybody ? "

Oggy Shore Line.
And damage, No......just my pride...
This happened a while back, I have learnt my lesson now, could have been worse.
The Truck made a nasty sound as it was plucked from the gloop, but all is well.
It wasnt too funny at the time, but its funny now...
