The P1 came with a standard STi backbox, embossed 'STi'. I have one which I bought off Mellow's P1. The majority of it is mild steel, with the tailpipe being a polished 3.5" stainless type. Pretty much the same as the stock item from the tailpipe onwards, but looks soooo much better.

There's also a P1 Prodrive backbox (stainless, similar in most respects to the PPP backbox) which is embossed P1. This is stainless throughout IIRC and is over £250 from a dealer.

Mine is currently off the car and I will be selling it, as I am after something more like the Magnex. Having had both on my scoob I can say that the STi one sounds nicer than the pea-shooter, a bit deeper but not intrusive whatsoever in the car. While they are the same internally I noticed my scoob would rev round to 7k more willingly with the STi bb on, whereas the pea-shooters don't like being taken past 6k.

AFAIK the only Prodrive backboxes available through Subaru dealers are the P1 and the WR Sport. The latter has an oval 5"x3" tailpipe.

Downside is they are very expensive new, around £350.

Unless you can pick one up secondhand, the Remus (about £200?) might be a better bet.

Cheers
Tim

NBW,

I spoke to a dealer and they explained that a standard Prodrive BB can be made avaiable, but apparently, Prodrive have to split a whole exhaust sytem to get it ... so it's not an easy one to get hold of ...

Is the 5x3 a nice but civilised sound do you know?

P

I've had Standard, Scoobysport, Magnex and now have a Prodrive BB.
In my opionion the Prodive is best as it is a good compromise between Standard and the Scoobysport.

Has a rather nice Prodrive Logo etched in the tailpipe too.

Bought mine for £150 of this BBS, and it came from a PPP'd Terzo.

I've got a Prodrive (PPP one) BB & a Remus, going through a Scoobysport DP & mid.
The Prodrive one lives on the car most of the time, but if there's a seriously long drive (like to somewhere in Europe), I swap back to the Remus. It's not as 'exciting', but still makes a good noise, & is SO much better for long journeys! The Prodrive jobbie is much quieter than the Scoobysport one (it's the only other one I've had on my car to compare with), but still drones by comparison to the Remus.
