Sorry I haven't read the whole thread, but the same thing happened to my brother-in-law just recently. He had his day in court, and long story short he still got the 3 points and they upped it to £120 fine. He had recorded the conversation with said plod, who by the sound of it struggled with basic schooling, but at the end of the day, the court system will always come down on the side of the old bill.
Sorry m8.

I've been stopped twice, neither of them in my scoob. Once was because they were stopping EVERYONE who came through this particular village, and the other because I was speeding at 1.00 in the morning on my way home from a gig. I was polite and respectful to the policeman. Although he had me bang to rights (I was doing about 20mph over the limit), he let me off and advised me to keep my speed down.
I don't touch my mobile while driving, let alone use it, so the chances of me being pulled for that offence are nil.
Staying out of trouble is not frigging rocket science.
Thanks for listening.

I'm too busy looking ay my Knocklink, oil pressure gauge, oil temp gauge, boost gauge, fuel pressure gauge, AFR meter, PFC hand commander with 8 other things being monitored - some the same as the gauges, also the speedo and rev counter etc to be messing about with the phone FFS
Even thinking of using the phone should be an offence, grrr don't get me started

You dont have to have been using your phone for an offence to be committed, the fact that you bent down/forward etc to pickup your phone from the footwell and put it down again whilst still driving means you were in full control of a vehicle which is an offence
It happened to me quite a few years ago, I moved my phone to the passenger seat, copper stopped me, I hadnt used the phone since the previous evening
I got a fine but no points, as it was before the points thing came in, but he actually told me at the time he could give me the mobile phone fine, or the due care and attention fine and points

Well if motorists want to give grief to cops [like most one here seem to do] creating revenue, then that leaves us politer people with more chance of walking away with a ticking off.
Suits me.

I know and having had martial arts training for a number of years often these situations can be avoided:
First rule!
Always show respect if you wish to gain respect!
Second rule!
The best way of defending yourself is not to get yourself in these situations in the first place!
Third rule!
Assess the situation carefully use positive body language and stand your ground maintain your personal space but do not be agressive. Do not panic panicing is a sign of agression and will generate an agressive responce from your oponent! De-escalate the opponent by reasoning with them then walk away!
Fourth Rule!
If you cant use rules 1 and 3 then apply rule 2!
Over 90% of communication comes not from what your saying but by body language.
Pre emptive tactics should only be used as a last resort! When life is in IMEDIATE DANGER!
Appologies in adavnce for poor spelling punctuation and grammer!
