Tried to bleed the brakes today.
'Tried' being the operative word !
First I had to bleed the master cylinder because I had let the fluid level drop when changing the brake hoses and calipers.
This is a total pain in the a**e as you need to disconnect the brake pipes, the one on top is not too bad but the one one the side is hard to get to.
I managed to sort that out but getting no success with my 'Easi-bleed' device.
When I open the bleed nipple I get brake fluid coming out around the thread but not much going down the pipe !
I had to come home before I lost my temper and smashed something !
Will give it another go on Sunday I think.

When i posted my prob on another forum this was the advice given in what order to bleed,
Was the car bled in the correct order? It makes a HUGE difference.
FR, RL, FL, RR is the correct order.
another thing i found with the easi bleed was to smear copperslip on the bleed nipple threads to reduce bypass.

I am bleeding them in the correct order according to the Subaru dealer manual (same order as above.
There is some fluid coming out of the bleed nipple so not blocked as far as I can tell ?
I think my problem is that I was mixing up the old rubber hose in a jamjar method with the Easi-bleed method.
ie. opening the bleed nipple with the pedal already depressed, the easi-bleed is designed for one man bleeding so open the nipple and then press the pedal to expel the air, will have to give this a go at the weekend.

It was working at an indicated 150+ at the time !
My experience with Subaru reliability is about on par with the legendary fibreglass nightmares !
The benefit is that the Scooby is less likely to kill you for no adequately explained reason everytime it rains !

On the motorway, I can't bear to hold it at max boost in top for more than a handful of seconds. It sets my teeth on edge.... on what could happen!
Was on the way back from API along the M69 earlier this evening, and was just tickling the throttle into +ve boost.... Compounded by the fact that I had just had the always-worrying/scary oil/filter change!

I took my brain with me today and managed to bleed the brakes !
One step nearer.....................
I now need to fit the suspension and trim the plastic wheel arch liners to fit with the pipework for the FMIC.
Got to take the rear struts to work to get the springs re-seated (we have coil spring clamps and suchlike !)

FMIC will be maybe easier job than bleeding brakes

Rear suspension removed today and re-wired the clock and gauges so that I can re-use the clock by fitting it into the single DIN pocket under the stereo.
I need to give the replacement suspension a couple more coats of paint but it is so cold in the garage !

Finally refitted the rear suspension today.
I think the battery is knackered however, so I will need to buy a replacement before it goes back onto the road.
I only need to refit the rear seat, wheel arch liners and turbo blanket and then work out how to get it mapped, MOT'd and taxed !
