Help !!! Killed the Scoob !

Had a look last night, Samco seems to be £230 ish, Viper is £130 ish.
The one i have fitted is a Japspeed one but bought it 3+ years ago, the current ones may be a better design ?
Most of the unbranded ones seem to be 'straight' where they meet the turbo, the Samco and Viper ones have a bend.
I think this is the problem with mine, because the pipe is straight, the turbo is too close to the engine block and you have to wrestle with it to get the pipe pushed onto the turbo inlet ?

After another three hours f***ing about trying to fit the turbo using the Japspeed hose I gave up and refitted the original !
I had to 'modify' one of the inlet breathers with a hacksaw to fit it without having to remove the manifold but I am blocking it anyway due to my oil catch can.
The turbo went straight on so it's definitely the aftermarket inlet pipe that's the problem.
I remember that whoever fitted it for me remarked that it was, I quote, 'a total ******* of a job' but i presumed it was the usual whinging from mechanics !
Looking at most of the aftermarket 'cheapy' hoses that are supposed to fit the newage cars, they appear not to have the required 'kink' where they meet the turbo.
So far this has been the only non-branded upgrade that has let me down.
I just need to sort out the oil and water fittings now and then it should be ready to hoist back into the car.

The Perrin intake hose gets the thumbs up.
NS04 had a problem with an aftermarket silicone sucking shut at high boost. So it was changed for the Perrin (under API's stewardship), and now is all good.
Don't know the cost of the Perrin though. If money's a prob., then go for that Viper at c.£170 odd...

Cut the silicone pipe where it emerged from under the mainifold and used an alloy joiner with a piece of the appropriate diameter silicone hose.
This allowed me to mess about with the angle a bit but still couldn't get it where I wanted it.
I finished the oil and water connections to the turbo today and then had an absolute nightmare trying to drop the engine back in.
I'm working in a friends lock up so resources are somewhat limited, no engine crane so using a block and tackle.
It got the engine out alright but it is very difficult to get the angle correct for putting it back in.
The engine sits level rather than tilting down at the back which meant that I had to manhandle it to get it to meet up with the gearbox.
After hours of messing about with it, I finally got the studs lined up and had the engine and box less than an inch apart.
THEN....................................
I spotted that I had left one of the locating 'dowels' in the gearbox and one in the block in the same position !
The only way to remove one was to get the engine back out !
In the words of Victor Meldrew,
'I don't believe it !'
I gave up after that and went home for a sulk !

I simply don't possess the requisite 'make-up' to handle them. My predominant disposition is one of, er, "eyes half-closed/knackered". EVERYTHING would be out the pram and I KNOW I'd make the situation worse, etc...

These are the kinds of scenarios that make me just hand the car over to the specialists and bung 'em cash!

I still smash thing with a large hammer but I am at one with the universe whilst I am doing it !

I got the engine back in yesterday but had a worrying moment with the clutch !
I don't think the release bearing had engaged properly so the clutch pedal went to the floor and stayed there.
It was bugging me all last night but think I sorted it today.
I just pushed the release fork all the way back by hand, there was a bit of a click and the clutch pedal now does its thing !
I spent the rest of today reconnecting hoses and trying to sort out my oil catch can, I did manage to get the oil return to the sump sorted though.
I still have to fit the FMIC pipework, fit the FPR somewhere and sort out the induction kit, at least I feel to be getting somewhere now.

Release bearing is normal to need to push fork etc
Fpr mounts nicely on tmc bracket mounting bolt holes on rear right of manifold away from turbo and no fuel flow noise like when mounted on bulk head

Cheers Simon !
I have a small dilemma (ooer missus)
I need to start it up to check for any oil / water leaks before I call on your services to map it again, will it be safe to start up on the old map ?
It will have bigger injectors, different turbo and FMIC since the last map you did so I am a bit worried ?
