personally I would ask sleepersy what he is running as I know he runs nitrous and it may of been that which helped break the box??

The research I have been doing is that a Modena gear kit in a six speed is the best opthion. Anyone every used a ikeya sequential shifter

paul (zen)who mapped my car used a sequantial 6 speed , I don't know what he uses now. Personally before wasting all your cash I would go 6 speed 1st as you would need the casing anyways I'm sure I mentioned steven darley broke say 3/4 ppg/dog gearkits but his 6 speed is still fine with all trackwork and full launches on a 10 sec car

Although the ratios are great for a 5 speed on the 1/4 mile the 6 speed is the stronger box. If your after a good 6 speed find the one from a forester STI as it has longer ratios that are more suuited to a 1/4mile car but you will pay a premium for this box

Are you suggesting that they are inaccurate? Noone seems to want to reply to this specific point. RCM were using exactly the same turbo as us and getting similar figures. This shows the turbo is capable of producing those figures reardless of what you think.

@daz - If you're such good mates with Ollie Clark ask him and he'll tell you the same thing.
Get back in your box!!

I've not said I'm "good mates" with Olly at all. What I have said is I know him quite well as a regular customer of RCM. There's a world of difference. I think the best thing for you to do is to shut that mouth of yours and let the car speak for itself with proven results on a strip rather than post some BS inflated Dyno figures up.

Its all very well coming on here and saying that a car produces a certain figure . But don't expect us to accept it when its doesn't compare with ANY car of a similar spec to date. I'm sure your car is a fantastic car but I think realistically you're atleast 80bhp out on your power figures.

Back on topic, as Steve has said above your best bet is to definetly give a six speed a whirl I'm sure it will be more than a match for your 580 bhp .

i am not wanting the thread to go back the way it was but why can you not get into your thick head that the gobstopper was 700+ bhp at the engine with a gt35r 42 and 605 bhp at the wheels. so 680 bhp at the engine is a perfectly obtainable power out put from a gt35r 42.

The Gobstopper ran at Oulton Park about 2-3 months back (have the odd pic to prove it ) it was running 700bhp then (on the GT40 turbo), just missed out beating the bike by 1/10 of a sec I believe (he didnt get chance to run the 2nd time where as the bike did).
Still it is damn fast, and he was very close to those walls

So what turbo are you running then? It's a simple question.

A GT35R or a GT3542? What exhaust housing etc as there is a world of difference between the two.

Your earlier posts suggest that you were making 680bhp out of a GT35R and now your hinting that its a GT3542R. The latter making it slightly more plausible that your achieving the figure you've mentioned. I still think that your figures are optimistic to say the least.

As for the figures the Gobstopper achieves they are completely irrelivent as the time effort and cost that's gone into that car would put any other car to shame.

As said before, I think side by side with other similar spec cars using a GT3542 who's owners/builders have given more realistic power figures you won't be your claimed 100bhp ahead. It's you that needs to get that into YOUR thick head

I would aslo point out that Zen's Race Car is on a GT40 and that's putting out somewhere around 650bhp as far as I'm aware.

You wonder why you're getting back lash?

You've posted figures that as yet havent been achieved by any other car running this turbo. Everyone disagrees with your claims and you are spitting your dummy out over it and getting all defensive.

Personally I hope your car IS running that power as it's a fantastic acheivement. I do somehow think the reality will be different though.
I look forward to you attending SSO when you're up against similar spec cars who's owners claim more realistic figures. I somehow think your in for disappointment if you think those figures are accurate.

Just one quick question have you only had the one run done? Would be more convincing if that power had been achieved on atleast one other dyno too.

these figures have been acheived by various cars. the example i have brought up is the gobstopper which has produced 700+ at the engine at least 20 more than me. and yous are actually spitting your dummy out cause i am getting close bhp to the gobstopper when it was running the same turbo as me. had many dyno runs at ai autosport so many in the few weeks i coulds not even count.
why can you not understand this turbo is capable of this and more please look at the gobstopper graph again their power is at the wheels and if you read carefully it says add 100bhp for the power at the engine. yoiu are quoting bhp for different cars and you can not even tell me if the power is at the wheels or engine what fuel it is running so many things which detemine your bhp figure. i know what i got is acurate and everything you have said i have response for but you ignore them.

You're being defensive again. I'm not spitting the dummy out at all. What your car makes power wise has no bearing on me whatsoever. You keep comparing your car to the gobstopper. I'm sure you share a few of the same components but I doubt it's in the same class. Although I hope it is at it will be great to see another car like that out there.

What I will say is until you either A: have some runs done on another dyno (different runs on the same dyno don't count) B: put it against cars that actually are putting out that power (albeit with bigger turbos) we'll all take what you're saying with a pinch of salt.

I'm not having a go per say it's just what you're claiming doesn't seem plausible and it's not just me that thinks this judging by the responses you've had here.

As said before I genuinely do hope your car has produced these figures as it will be great to see another great car out there mixing it up with the best cars in the country.

Question

When you go for DCCD box and already got uk 6 speed (off Sti8) prop, R180 suretrac rear diff, do you just need the box itself and a box of electrical magic to control it? I'm really just trying to find out if front shafts, prop and rear diff I already have will work without issue?

My 2.5 will be running a GT35/42 0.82 a/r and I think 600bhp will be its limit and that will be with methanol. Will also be running nos so might make 680bhp but I still doubtit.

Why on earth would I feel the need to phone Olly to validate what you're saying? He's a busy fella I'm sure he doesn't need to be wasting his time confirming or not as the case may be what power your car does or doesn't produce.

If as before you make these claims (410bhp from 440's et)c then people are bound to be sceptical.

Depends on your year of box. Propshaft wont be an issue but the stubs on the gearbox for the front drive shafts maybe.

Rear diff will also be fine providing it has the same ratio as the box.
Controller wise, DCCD pro or a neetronics controller would be my prefered choice.

Hi again. I thought we'd settled your attitude problems via PM last night.

If you're so damned sure that what you're saying is correct then please feel free to contact Olly as he will surely agree with you, lol.

You are now arguing about what Olly Clark is saying that this turbo can do. Can you not see what an *** you're makng of yourself? Like I said last night, if it was RCM on here saying they had attained these figures then you wouldn't be arguing.

Ah cheers, I'll prop get front stubs with it anyway and then see if mine are the same (for spares, as they can break). Already look at neetronics controller...sounds okay for wiring etc.
