2 Police dogs die after being left in a van during hot weather

I was going to respond to this having just come in from work and being a little tired and 'bitey'.
On re-reading however i dont see the need-youve proven yourself as a **** of the highest order by posting what you did.
If you dont understand it then I think you'll find that you are the one with the inadequacies be they social or penal, not the people who are condemning the needless suffering and death of a pair of highly trained valuable animals.
Sort of like a scote torching your car and beating you and your family to a pulp and seeing nothing wrong with it.
As you were

We are talking about two dogs here. Not Charles De Menez, Daz Davies or some other victim of policing policy shortcomings.
I feel the outrage expressed on this thread to be disproportionate.
For the record - I am not a doggy person.

You can insult your own intelligence - should you have any.
At no point have I said I require anyone's sympathy for doing a job that I chose.
As for being a Royal Marine, good for you, one of the boys I work with used to be a Royal Marine until he was discharged on medical grounds and then joined the police. Funny thing is that he says he sees worse sights as a cop than he did as a marine.

As if anything in the uk compares to africa or some other lawless state where ak47's are cheaper than bread.
you, like all street coppers, are full of self importance.
****.

Animals will always get a lot of sympathy when they are ill treated by what is supposed to be an intelligent human with no excuse for doing so.
This is a country of animal lovers I am glad to say, and it is very wrong to ill treat any animal which cannot defend itself.
I personally hope that people will always complain bitterly in cases of cruel behavior to animals.

He's made a very good point though.
Take any of the BiB mentioned here and stick them on the streets of J'Burg and they'd sh*t themsleves but this is going way beyond the original topic.
Police officer or not the muppet repsonsible for those dogs deserves the worst possible things that can happen to him regardless of his profession. The fact that he is a police Dog handler just makes the whole situation even more negligent.

Sorry but its as simple as an eye for an eye in this case-animal cruelty I consider as bad as child cruelty-no punishment is sufficient-i'd be the same and feel the same towards the person concerned whatever their occupation and they deserve whatever they get-can you elucidate please?

Why is that?
Just because i have sufficiently high moral standards and the correct upbringing to not tolerate either?
Both are acts against a living thing incapable of defending themselves who are totally dependant and offer unconditional love for the scum inflicting the cruelty.
I assume from your stance that you have neither kids or animals or perhaps you just find certain levels of cruelty more acceptable than others

You assume wrong, I have children, and have had animals.
Neither forms of cruelty are acceptable, but they are in different leagues, to say that they are the same would mean either you are bringing animals up to human status, or children down to animal?? There is a pecking order in life and I'm sorry to say Humans are above dogs!
Did you ever crush an ant when you was a kid? Is that acceptable cruelty?

I was brought up to believe all life was sacred not just to pick and choose at my own convenience.
In fact apart from hitting the odd bird in a truck I can honestly say I dont think I have ever killed another living animal except for food but like I say perhaps we have differing moral values.
No offence intended like but thats the way I am.

At the very least, there is an implied hierachy between species of animal, ie between the eater and the eaten.
This train of thought is further amplified by the keeping a carnivor as a pet perhaps? Does this situation not present a moral conundrum?

But surely there is a conflict between saying that all life is sacred and saying you have killed another living animal for food.

I'm talking rabbits or similar here by the way-the logistics involved in a full size cow or similar are beyond me due to my freezer being a little small for it so i go to my local butcher for 'bigger animals'.
The only hierarchy involved is the food chain. My beliefs mean that I wouldn't kill unless to feed me or my family and that I will not tolerate NEEDLESS suffering towards another living creature.
Its quite a simple concept and one I am happy to follow, fair enough if you dont understand though

?
Because i smoke a bit of weed means i dont know what im talking about?
I have mates from zimbabwe, one of which plays on my football team, and what goes on there defies belief, and is way worse than anything in the uk.
put any of you coppers in that country and you would run back to the airport, leaving a trail of **** behind you, but you all think you are bad ***!
Dont make me laugh!
Get over yourselves, you bunch of self important, i had an unhappy sexless school life, i have no friends that arent in the force, my life consists of the force and thats it, if you crossed me before i was a copper i WILL harrass you for it now, i have a bit of power and its gone to my head to55ers!
Why did you become a copper by the way?
#163
Seems to me that if you are a trained dog handler then you should have the same sense of responsiblity towards those dogs in a locked car as you would have if they were your children.

Not at all-killing for food is what nature-and occasionally I do.

Please forgive me for not understanding the simplicity of your philosophy.
It is obvious from your post that you don't keep a dog as a pet - so you can't be all bad

So what you are saying is that you were bought up to believe that all life is sacred, but that you don't actually believe it. Parents are not all they could be these days, so that is fair enough.
Please forgive me for not understanding the simplicity of your philosophy.

Like I said, fair enough if you dont have the intellect to understand the concept but please dont try to further compound your ignorance by turning it into an attack on my parents in order to divert attention from your intellectually moribund self.
Why is it obvious from my post that I dont keep a dog as a pet?

Why are you debating your beliefs with a troll ?
He doesn't care what you're saying he's here to argue against everything.
From his first post he should have been ignored in this thread.

Ah right-you are one of those people who are prepared to let others kill on your behalf as long as the food is nicely presented in cling film so you dont have to cope with the reality that meat comes from animals.
Fair enough I suppose, real life can often be a bit too much for some people,
perhaps if you tried a slightly darker tint of rosey on your specs then you wouldnt see any blood on your meat in the shop.
Sorry about not understanding the last bit about me being dog???? but I'm not that good with broken pigeon english-If you want to try again then I'll try to explain to you in smaller words of less than say 5 letters if that would be easier for you to comprehend.
cheers richie

You might conclude from my posts that I think anyone who keeps a carnivore as a pet and considers themself to be an "animal lover" is kidding themselves.
You might also conclude that I am not an "animal lover" who thinks more of their pet/s than other human beings.
In keeping with my proclivities - I think I will toddle off now and indulge in a more challenging activity.
It involves a barrel of water, some fish and a gun. Might even eat some of them after wards - cling film wrapped of course!
ps, I love your debating style - the unique mix of hypocricy and self delusion is not one I have come across before.

All this arguing to one side, what has actually happened to the police office who was responible ?? Its been a week or so now and I would like to know if he/she has been charge, or how the investigation is going ??
Once the papers report the inital incident, thats it, no follow up. However, I would like to know.
