very interesting, after looking on this site found some info.so a fully closed deck means the cylinders will not move around very much, and an open deck means the cylinders can move around a lot, especially under higher than stock boost levels resulting in head gasket failure as the cylinder will wear away the gasket in time.so a semi closed deck should be in between,i.e can handle a little more boost?

ok just to anounce that today i got a fax from scooby teknix stating that the engine had a sti shortblock fitted to my car last april, well chuffed, the car now has a full history.so only thing now is that i am thinking how much extra power could the sti version 7 block with stock wrx heads and turbo with stock exhaust and aftermarket backbox take safely?the car is quick anyway, but another 40hp will put the cherry on the cake,do you think a remapp is the only obvious way to go? only its not cheap.
