Those cheap kits with premade pipes for I don't know what, a bus perhaps. The sandwich plates and cooler cores are usually okay, but the kit as a whole isn't very nice and almost everyone I've seen like that gets the pipes replace with something proper. The core looks a little small depending on where you're going to locate it, and give that i would suggest at the front somewhere in good airflow.

Very Nice, I bet there not cheap tho .

I still haven't decided on a way forward with the fuel pump issue yet, will be making a few phone calls tomorrow to get some more prices. Was orginally going to go for a Bosch (run in tank) but after hearing they heat the fuel up I've have gone off the idea now. Back to square one again .

My set up is walbro 255 in tank then to swirl pot with bosch 044 (to be replaced by the one on that link next week) - not missed a beat.

Re the oil cooler - was going to say it is too small but Paul beat me to it.

You want double that size on a tuned 2.5 running the sort of power you are. Mine resides in the inner wing and is only just sufficient at 25 rows with really good airflow to (and most importantly) from.

Cheers Duncan/Paul, I don't want to cut corners but budget is becoming a issue now.
Am going to give the oil cooler a go and see how it holds up, if its no good then
its looking like I'll have to buy something a little better. Going to mount it behind
the grill so should see plenty of air.
Want to get a couple of months out the car this year then start tweaking next year
(and get some better brakes, lol).

Budgets tend to go out the window with majority of builds whether it be 400 or 600. You're lucky you have the likes of Paul and Duncan giving you good pointers - sometimes it's worth spending that extra penny or two to get it spot on. Hope it works out for you anyhow.

The core will probably be okay if you get in behind the grill with good airflow, but the pipes are worth looking at replacing, mainly so you can get them routed just as you want and not be restricted by the pre made "one size fits all" hoses.

That core looks circa the same size as my OE Spec C cooler (although yours maybe slightly bigger). It is fine for the road at my power level, but it is sited directly in the upper air dam area just below the bonnet. On track with fairly hard use it is OK (but not sustained), but for serious use on track it would need to be bigger and located behind a front fog lamp, ducted etc.

Cheers all, the cooler is quit deep and should get good airflow were I'm going to mount it (will put some pic up next week). I need to find out what treads are on the cooler and remote filter so that I can cut the hoses to length and replace fittings with Earls etc (this should eliminate the long runs).

Have just fitted a 25 row Setrab cooler to mine. 330mm wide too so will be more than enough to cope.

Buying the individual components can be cheaper than a pre-made kit and gives you the chance to put firesleeve on the oil pipes where they will go near the exhaust headers (dont run without this precaution please).

Latest update, ditched the pre-made hoses and ordered up some -10 Earls fittings last week, was planning on re-using the braided hose but typically the hose won't fit the Earls fittings so have had to order some hose as well which wont land till Tuesday .

The filter plate and remote filter plate seem good quality so the only thing I'll need to change is the cooler if it isnt up to the job.

Will post before and after for the cooler to give a comparison of results:

BEFORE 'PEAK READINGS':

BEFORE ' CRUISING/TRAFFIC READINGS':

Will post peak and 'cruising' values next week once I eventually get the cooler fitted .

New S204 dask kit arrived from JapanParts as well, well impressed top quality all genuine subaru parts ! Had to change the head unit as well (the original silver one just wouldn't have looked right ).

S204 dask kit fitting instructions from our American friends:

http://www.iwsti.com/forums/how-inst...t-install.html

Am a bit dissapointed with the fit of the head unit, theres a 4 mm gap all the way round between the head unit and trim which is annoying me:

I mean to list more info on here as I go to help other people:

Earls Fittings (expensive but worth it):

Earls Performance Products UK - Braided Hose and Fittings

And Goodridge fittings (not bought any myself but a friend has recommended them and says the quality is the same as Earls):

Merlin Motorsport race parts, accessories, spares & equipment

Hel performance as recomended by Duncan (they have some very nice cooler cores):

http://www.h-e-l.co.uk/

If your buying a few items Earls usually give you a discount (15% seems the norm), remember its always worth asking .

Chris, mounted the core at the front to keep the engine bay tidy (am trying to de-clutter things and reduce the amount of 'plumbing in there, ).

Dunx, cleaned the lines and core with brake/clutch cleaner (evaporates and doesnt leave and residue) will flush with oil before I fit.

Will I need anything on the ECU side once by new engine goes in i.e. new map sensor? I haven't looked ino this yet?

Yes I think it does (its like a black rubber, not just painted), but the 202 was a bugeye so has different interior.

Oil cooler fitted. -10 fittings are a lot easier to make up then -6's! Been struggerling to find time over the last few weeks but spent two days in the garage this weekend. Heres the pics:

Parts ready to go, new lines and flame guard as recommended by Duncan/Paul):

Cooler fitted:

Priming Lines/cooler:

Remote filter mounted off side inner wing:

Sandwich plate:

Didn't get finshed until late today so haven't had chance to give the car a run out yet to get any readings to see if the core is up to the job or not.

Next run out is going to be Friday when I finally drop her off for a new engine .
