really really interesting read even to those of us who would love to get more oil and grease on our fingers but never had the guidence to help start
Love the look of the oil cooler but what exactly do you order for it all ie sandwich plates pipework core ...id like to fit but could only work it out if everything is there that i need...Its just how my brain works can you tell me?

Cheer mate, the idea behind posting this thread was to share learning etc. My cooler was second hand (revolution supply the full kit new). In hind sight theres better kits out there.

All you really need is a sandwich plate (fit on top of the filter), core and lines. Theres no real need for a remote filter in hind sight.

Not sure about complete kits. To be honest I think your better off ordering a core, lines, fittings and and sandwich plate from Earls, Merlin or HEL. The fittings/lines arn't that difficult to make up and as you will see from this thread I was warned away from the universal kits with long lines (I now see why looking at the quality of the hoses in comparison to the Earls hose I've now fitted). It might be worth given someone like Lateral, Zen, Engine Tuner, Clinic..... a ring and see if they have a kit. The Mocal and Setrab coolers seem to be pretty good. I was looking at a Mocal set up at Pennine on Friday (cooler in off side wing fed by a sandwich plate on top of filter) which looked better tha mine to be honest.

Some of my old parts are now up for sale (picked up today from sunny Hebden Bridge) , if any ones after some PE 650's, intake manifold, 2.0l shortblock (with sump/clutch/fly) or MD321t (plus 58mm intake) give me a shout:

Fai, going to be running a 321V, full car specs on the first page of this thread, I've been updating it as I go, if you get a min have a look and see if I've missed anything that will make the car run safer/smoother .

Really want to run a E85 mix (i.e. 20-30%) but need to do a little more reseach first and speak to a few more people. Have been told theres issues mixing it properly, I was planning to mix up in jerry cans but have been told it doesnt mix well this way. Also heard talk about it attacking lines/injectors/fuel rails etc.

I dont like talking power figures as its how the car drives thats important and I chose the 321V for hopefully its earlier spool over bigger turbo's(more road friendly), but was looking for the 500bhp 550ft lbs but expect to be just short on V-power alone.

brockalightus, 321t is provisionally sold, I'll let you know if it falls through.

utaka, mainly setting the car up as play thing for Elvington etc and the odd track day. I keep having to stop myself from going over board as I'm trying to keep the car user friendly if you know what I mean. I have to stop myself from getting the visa out when I see some of the goodies your putting on your car, you keep leading me astray .

Got a car which I hope to start work on early next year, full on track car this time, plastic windows, stripped out, 100% E85, big power jobbie! She's sat in the barn at the moment gathering dust but need to get this car finished first. Heres a few pics of the real 'widow maker' :

A lot of work to do on this one tho!

Chy and Phil are taking pics of the build for me as the engines assembled, I'll post them as soon as I get the pics.

Going to be a few interesting mods/machining on the build as well which should be of interest/use to some of the more hardcore track day drivers/cars.

Dave i just love the attention to the minor detailing, true perfectionist style i must say. Keep up the good work and i certainly look forward to seeing what you got planned for that classic and any specs which you have in mind?
