Serious question, but might sound daft...
What do you do if you dont have a PC/Mac ? Just a phone?

Oh.
Thought so, just thought there might have been a way maybe via an Apple store or something.
Hmmph.
Dont you need to put the iPhone on a PC/Mac to initially set it up though? So no desk/laptop, no iPhone ?

Would someone without a home PC/Laptop be seriously thinking about buying an iPhone, or any sort of smartphone type mobile??

Why not ?
I hardly use my home PC's now, as I can do most of what I want on my phone.
I know what you mean, but I know plenty of people that dont have PC's at home, however use them at work, and would like the added connectivity.

If someone bought a iPhone with no pc or mac. I'd say they belong on the special bus!
Should be here in a hour fingers crossed. Or this thread title should be changed from midnight to "will it arrive today"

Cheers Jack, as I thought they might then
Genuinly always wondered about that, seemed a bit strange you would be excluded for not having a home PC.
Ant, dont see why mate. One of the joys of smart phones is the elimination of reliance on home PC's

Yeeeessssss ..... but then you can't actually DO much with the phone apart from download stuff from iTunes and even then you would have no way to back the phone up should things go horribly wrong.

Not everyone wants to use it for music though. Its a good tool for many other things. Besides, you can download music directly to it cant you.
Backing the phone up I can understand Steve, but that said, a lot of people are still crap at backing up lol.
I would love to know the total amount of data streamed from the Apple servers at the end of the update frenzy.

Apparently so, I watched a live demo of unlocking last night, that requires a Jailbreak first.

Have a sniff over
here .
** edit **
Seems that ultrasn0w will be out on Friday. You can apply the jailbreak when released but you might not be able to use cell service, so no phone calls, hmm, not so good. They also reckon that could apply to the 3GS, if it can be jailbroken. They're not sure if it can just yet, as they don't have one.
