Grip and handling are two different things. You can increase the grip easily, but that is more likely than not to make it harder to handle when you reach the limit of adhesion. Making it grip more will not necessarily make you quicker, whereas making it handle better generally will.

Reducing the understeer on turn-in and power is where you'll get most gains I think - basically set it up like a FWD car for british B roads. Softish springs, decent travel, loads of damping, great tyres and a slightly stiffer rear ARB. You've got to keep the chassis balanced.

My car is set up with the following:

HSD Coilovers with the hardest springs
Rear Whitleline 22mm ARB on middle setting (also have solid droplinks to fit)
CDF Anti lift kit
STI Lateral links
Full Geo set up by Paul at Zen

This set up make the car very neutral through the corners, i.e not much body roll, however I do feel like the rear end is not as stable as it could be.

Was recently at Cadwell Park on a track day, and I didn't feel I had the confidence in the car to really push it, it was however damp in the morning and get dryer through the day.

Would changing the rear anti roll bar setting make a difference.

My mate has a golf GTI and he had toyos 888 on, he could just chuck that thing around without fear of losing it, when it did go, quick lift off and back in line.

Any help with set up greatly appreciated.

Coilovers are on middle damping setting (has 10 clicks)

Off to Oulton park in few weeks time, might try adjusting the roll bar there.

Also got some part worn Yokohama A048 to try as well

You could try bringing the rear damping down by a couple of clicks, or the front up slightly. What tyres / pressures and also what rate springs?

I'd leave the A048s until you are happy with it on normal tyres - you'll only make it slide at higher speeds which will give you less confidence in the slip point and balance. In other words if you do come unstuck you'll be going a lot, lot faster at the time.

Hi Adam,

Was at Cadwell running Goodyears on the front 35PSI and Toyo T1R on the back at 32 PSI, the spring tates are 8/5 from memory

Will try what you suggest, although don't know if my road tyres will stand another track session, hence why I got the A048's, also got a full set of slicks, but only got these are they were cheap.

My road wheels are 18", whilst my track day tyres are 17".

I think maybe the springs maybe be too hard, but will first try the damping.

A full set of matching tyres will be an improvement, IMHO.

P.S. T1R/S eaten by mine, sidewalls too soft.
