What they are doing wrong is using the overtaking lane as their personal highway. It is not a fast lane, or an outside lane, but an overtaking lane. If they are overtaking then fine, but when they are just sat there because they feel it is their place to enforce the speed limit by sitting at 70 in the overtaking lane on an emtpy road it annoys me. What special powers do they have to enforce the law other than being self-appointed sherrifs.
And no I don't have a special right, but I have a mind and if I choose to drive at what I believe is a more sensible speed than the bureaucrats beleive is correct I can make that choice and face the consequences if I get caught.

I like to get out on my bike, as it gives my some kind of release.
I like being on my own every now and again, just me, my bike and a bottle of Lucozade.

I do turn into a hooligan on it though.......so I dont use it much.
AND ITS A BIT LOUD, SO I SHOUT FOR A FEW HOURS WHEN I GET BACK HOME...HELLO, WHAT...EH, PARDIN !

Do you believe that laws should not be followed then?

When deciding to do 80 on a motorway I have assessed those consequences and have, in my mind, decided that the additional risk is negligible. If I am judged to have done wrong because of this than I will face the wrath of the court.
At the same time I have made a judgement call that 40 in a 30 limit is unaccpetable because the difference, despite the same speed difference, will significantly increase the risk of severity in the event of an accident.
I drive at speeds where I feel I am comfortable and in control, and based upon the traffic and weather conditions and other factors such as location and proximity of schools, hospitals etc.
When I feel I am not in control I will do something to correct that.
My personal opinion is that motorway and fast dual carriageway speeds where developed at a time when car safety was much poorer and haven't been reviewed in line with technical developments. I am more than comfortable driving at well in excess of 100mph on the Autobhan when I am in Germany, subject to all the aforementioned environmental factors, and I have never been in a position where I have felt near to being involved in an accident. I maintain distances, don't tailgate, and drive well within my own, my cars and the environmental limits.
And if we are following laws, what right does the 70mph lane-hogger have to sit in the second overtaking lane of an empty motorway. By not pulling in is he or she not also breaking the law. They should only be in the overtaking lane when they are overtaking!!!

I ride my bike like a hooligan.
I cant help it.
Maybe if I kill myself or worse kill someone else, I will learn my lesson.
Until then, I will ride it like I stole it.

Sorry in advance.
