I have a 1993 WRX saloon with Green panel filter, Walbo, STi 2 TMIC, decat and full system, all mapped on a PFC, for about 280bhp. My daily 11 mile abode-to-work-to-abode commute - plus the occasional hoon - gets me no more than 50miles from a tenner.

Basically I get about 5 miles or less from a litre of fuel... or no more than 22 miles per gallon.

I go to Guisborough now.

I use to use the Shell garage next to Proudfoot, as thats only 10-12 miles from me. The Staxton one (passed Morrisons) is too far.

But yeah, I have to travel!!

LOL I put some of Texaco's finest in once... Never again.
I was running low and it was the only garage for miles, the car ran like a dog. I thought the head gasket had gone or a plug had died... NOPE it was there crappy fuel!

Tesco 99 or V power for me

I have no trouble with Texaco 97. I use it (and sometimes Esoo 97) if I think I can't make the Shell garage lol.

You prob just happened upon - unfortunately - a stale batch...

do you guys agree that this is likely to be the problem???

what would you guys estimate my car (2000 sport) should do per tenner?

Is it running rough? Does it want to stall, or the revs dip and rise, as it's warming up? These are typical symptoms when they are on the blink.

It certainly could be the problem i.e. if it's knackered and its output voltages are out of range, then it's probably telling the ECU to overfuel an up-to-temp engine - hence the bad fuel economy.

For the sake of only £30 (equal to a a 60% fill up!), then I'd defo replace it and see how it goes... it'll pay for itself in only a few miles if you gat back to normal consumption again.

With a non-turbo, I'd expect about 25-30mpg on the combined cycle (it won't be much more than that, as the AWD system saps a lot of the engine power).

will it fit or do i need to find a one for my car?

I wouldn't bother.

Just stick in enough 95 to be able to get you to a Shell or Tesco, drive there off-boost, and then fill up with the proper stuff when you get there. # simples #

Get a duel map
one 95 and one 99, then theres no need to worry.

45 miles for a tenner drivin normal

10 miles for a tenner on track
