Others have done this themselves and I don't think needed a remap.

Changing the downpipe/cat for a decat seems to lead to ( potential ) boost spikes and so should be remapped.

I'm sure I saw it in here but can't find it .... searched all over!

Subaru Assist - did someone say they have reduced the use of the good service and used someone like Greenflag / AA/RAC etc.? instead to cut costs??

And should ask for the "good" company when calling for recovery?

Grateful if some one can remind me of the "good" recovery co. to ask for!

Cheers

assist is done by the AA now, found out by phoning them to ask if they'd recover from the Ring if the worst happened. The answer suprised me in a good way.

In the occasion I had to use them when I was run off the road, it was a local company that came out to me, and took me home. South Wales to South Beds is a long old trip in a recovery truck and wouldn't have been cheap.

Cheers Simon, I remember there was a post about the previous company Subaru use, began with a M I think, and the poster said he was asked if he wanted to use XXX or YYY company.

I'm putting together a pocket list of key info in case the worst happens - ISR reg and tel no, subaru assist, tracker no. and codes, dealer, local police no., insurance nos. etc etc.

Apparently there is no cat in the up-pipe on these cars.

I was wondering, a monthly meet is being set up for Scooby owners ( and friends! ) at the Micklehead Green pub, just outside St.Helens on the link road to the M62 roundabout at Junction 7.

https://www.scoobynet.com/northern-e...st-helens.html
Google map http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&so...d+Kingdom&z=16
Postcode WA9 4TT

I noticed there were quite a few Hatch scoobs in the NW not too far away, any interest?

If so go put up your interest on the thread above!

We used to get modded classics, new age, a 22B, a WR1, auto wagon (!!), and more.
General chat, techy chat, look at the cars and have a shandy!

Cheers

Neil

I thought you couldn't tow a AWD unless all 4 wheels are on the ground hence the flat bed or am I being thick

No, you are correct, that's why some recovery services are a problem.... thet send the 2 wheel tow truck!

Will damage the 4 wheel drive system if towed like that.

Always use a flat bed truck or similar.

Default Stupid Question

Do Subaru sell colour coded touch-up/chip pens? I have never needed one before with my previous Subaru's just this one with tissue paper paint. I had one for my Lotus which was good but obviously not metal underneath.

Halfords also do one, if you give them the paint code, and it has both a small brush and a nib/needle end, which is better for small chips.

Just as Vulnax said

2 cats, one in downpipe, one in front centre section... most of the "cat back" systems removes the 2nd cat section with a straight through pipe. replaces the resonator section with the same, and also a new backbox..

These exhausts do not need a remap... but the car would muster significant gains if you did.

Missing VIN plate on Euro import.

I've just tried to locate my VIN plate (on the top of the nearside suspension strut)... to find 2 neat holes but no plate... any other Euro imports like this or is it just me!

Cheers Arron,

I've been told the same, the hatch does not have the VIN plate on the suspension strut anymore... but on the drivers door or bulkhead.

yes the VIN number is etched on the windshield, but I need the colour code, which is found only on the VIN plate...

PS:

Got my Z/S air intake pipe fitted..and all ok now.... sounds louder under WOT...more of a whoosh than before?

So is there no adverse effects from fitting a cat back exhaust and panel filter ? With out a remap ? But only benefits if you do ?

I've always assumed a "cat back" system was inclusive of the 2nd cat..so everything behind the catted downpipe is replaced... but Arron's pic shows the cat back system starting from the rear of the 2nd cat.... so I stand corrected if that's the case.

make's my £250 for a whole 330s exhaust even better VFM

Try the bottom of the passenger side B pillar - open door and it's just above the sill.
Type UK's are anyway.

Me too, I'd always thought cat back was after the downpipe.... and turbo back was downpipe and all.

Anyone know if a set of 20mm hub-centric spacers (with an outer bore size of 73mm) will fit the 2008 STI?
