Fitted my new exhaust on Friday. I was never really a fan of single exits on the hatch but they slowly grew on me. I have a Fujitsubo cover on order to fill the void on the other side.
I went from a Hayward & Scott system to a Tomei system from Japan. The Tomei sounds insane

That's a good price. Even today, with one on offer at Rhdjapan (£191 off) it would be £1250 after tax and carriage , so normally >£1441.
Did the courier not bill you tax? Lucky!!

I got it through Torque gt, they had a sale on and I also had a discount code. They had it shipped from Japan straight to them, then they shipped it to me so there was no additional import taxes or carriage.

Ordered and received quickly the front bumper skin, stored in shed right now until my appointment with the paint shop for bonnet, grill, bumper, splitter painting. Poor bonnet has a bum shaped dent at front on one side ( some one sat on it? ) and lots of stone chips.

Shame I have to wait until early November, as paintshop is in demand!

Thanks for all the help guys.

It fills the gap in the bumper, when you fit a single exit exhaust.

My 20th anniversary came with a Panasonic Strada stereo from Japan, the menus are all in japanese and the radio frequencies obviously don't work over here. I want to put in a replacement, ideally something modern with android auto, something that produces good sound with good clarity on the screen. What stereos have you all put in your JDM hatches, what extra harness would i need to buy to get any stereo to work with the JDM hatch stereo wiring. Cheers

The 20th Anniversary model didn't (like many JDM cars) come with an OEM radio/satnav, just a blanking plate.

Audio equipment (including the rear speakers) was a separate customer option order at purchase. (similar for anyone who bought a P1 when it came out).

As it came to the UK with a radio then it's probably already got a Subaru to ISO connector cable fitted.

Wee bit of carbon fibre tarting of the engine bay....just going to get airbox lid and the OE alternator belt cover done also. Then when I eventually get scabby intake pipe replaced with the new one and mapped in that'll be engine bay done

Thanks Don. i'll probably take the stereo out later and see whats going on with the wiring, hopefully it will be just a straight forward plug in and play with a new stereo like a Pioneer etc.

All that wiring is for the Radio/TV/DVD installation and comes with the unit along with a load of other items. (GPS receiver, TV/FM tuner unit)

You will need to go a little bit deeper to find the original OEM Subaru connector (if one is fitted) and removal for the associated items.
It looks as if.........
The green plug is the outputs to the speakers and the grey plug the power inputs etc. These would be the equivalent of the ISO connectors so would just need changing/modifying to suit the unit you choose input plugs.
The rest apart from the standard aerial plug are for accessory inputs to the unit. (IPOD)

Here is a link to the installation manual for both the 700 and 710 versions (obviously in japanese but the pictures and english references should give you some clues)

I owe 80prs single DIN on hawkeye with way better sound setups possibilty in my opinion,i do not listen radio-do not need dab and prefer my s23u oled screen as a touch screen.
230dab is not bad and seen them fitted to 2008< imprezas

Don, that is so helpful and i appreciate you going to the time to post that info. The stereo side of things i wouldn't say is my strength but that looks pretty straight forward with that manual you linked too, i'll take the wiring out tomorrow then decide on what stereo i want to put in there.

Don, one quick thing. The amp/tuner unit that's under the passenger seat, is that just dedicated to this particular Panasonic head unit, does it also need to removed or does it need to stay there ?

It's all part of the setup along with it's windscreen aerials, so probably will not work with a European H/U or is it a subwoofer?
The only wiring you may which to keep are these and will save some installation work

However the JDM and UK/European Imprezas have an OP connector behind the Fusebox where all these connections can be made and can use a Goodwill connector (now) H0077AG021 for these to plug into.

Don, again your help is really appreciated. As i said, car stereos are not my area of expertise, this is quite a complicated setup with these Panasonic Strada stereos as their is a lot involved like video, sat nav and a lot of other things as well as the amp/tuner box under the passenger seat. Ive got a lot of that wiring out of there now which looks like its related to the Panasonic system and its looking like im pretty much down to the stock wiring that's left behind. I just need to now take a look at that amp/tuner box under the passenger seat as im sure by taking that out it will take a bit more of the cables with it, it's looking a lot cleaner, i'll post some pics when ive taken a look at that box under the passnger seat and see if its straight foward to take it out and to see what larger cables it takes with it. It's deffo another learning curve as its quite a complicated setup this japanese stereo/sat nav and video player etc.

It's looking a lot cleaner and tidier with a lot of that wiring gone, any idea what the green thing is for in the 3rd pic ?

Looks as if the JDM Impreza comes with an old style Subaru Radio connector (14pins)

Used for the various power supply inputs and speaker outputs.

The green plug via the 8pin connector below supplied the inputs for handbrake, illumination, speed signal and reverse inputs. (used for sat nav) probably
connects to the OP connector.

Radio earthing terminal

Left to Right on towel below:-
Radio Antenna plug (may need an adaptor for a UK radio)
TV/FM multiplex antenna plug (mounted on windscreen?)
Heavy black cable - Ipod link ?
Grey connector - Video in and out and Sub Woofer out
Red wiring - Digital Tuner power feeds and earth
Keyless Access antenna

Don, your knowledge of these cars is unreal, i would never have known over half of what those connections were, especially the keyless entry one as it looks unusual, not something you see every day. All your help is deffo going to help me moving forward, i know what further things can come out, and hopefully this will help someone with a JDM hatch in a similar situation to what i was in. Their is quite a lot involved with that Panasonic Strada setup, touch wood evrything will be gone by the weekend what i don't need then i'll look at what head unit to put in it, i'm leaning towards something like a Pioneer AVH- Z5200 or similar.

I presume with it having an old style 14 pin Subaru connector, will it need a harness adapter of some kind for most modern stereos with touch screen etc ?
