Until I can afford/justify the cost of the AP/Alcon upgrade I have gone for Performance Friction front discs/pads, PF rear pads on the std discs, HEL brake lines all round and Dot 5.1. Works welll and big improvement over the stock setup, but not as good as the AP/Alcon 6 pots though

Hi all,

Looking around for a 330s (knowing me it'll take me ages to find the right one!). Took one for a test drive Saturday and liked it a lot.

Was just wondering how much the Prodrive flaps were for the hatch - can't seem to find them on the Subaru website.

BTW - this thread is why I want a hatch, you rotten buggers!!

Mine has braided goodridge lines and 5.1 fluid in at the moment, does make a better feel to the brake pedal and doesnt fade, these brakes are nearly worn out now, so gonna stick with the brembo calliper and fit a set of performance friction strap drive disc's and pads

Here you go bud, about half way down:

Subaru Accessories

Actually £30 a pair so pretty good value and subtle.

Personally I went for the Rally Armors, as they offer superior protection.

Thanks

I reminded my dealer that he did not tell me about thew 1/2 price deal for PPP that was running 2 months after I bought my car. Being a dealer he was not embarrassed by this

Still he did me a deal of £1600 including fitting (which is what it quotes on the Prodrive site (but not sure of this includes fitting).

Im starting to fit whiteline chassis mods, like i know alot of you already have . Going for Tein springs as well. Ive been advise that fitting the bump steer kit is a good idea. But at nearly two hundred fitted its pushing me beyond what i had budgeted for. I was wondering if any body else has got it done ? Also if it is worth it ?
Thanks
John

i think its such a con £1600 for an exchanged, reprogrammed ECU and cat back exhaust just because you get the warranty untouched from Subaru.

I only got it as it was 1/2 price when i ordered my hatch, otherwise the same money would have gone to forged pistons and a much higher spec'd ECU / exhaust system without cats.

Sorry guys - I've got some more questions I'm hoping you can answer.Going to look at another 330s on Saturday and in the process of trying to sort a deal - subject to viewing and test drive.

What lowering springs had people got and recommend?

Does anyone have the Milltek cat-back exhaust and how much did it cost (please PM me if you'd rather not divulge the cost on here!)

Forgot to ask the dealer this but would a 2009 car still need the ecu re-flash and are there still problems?

Should the car come standard with floor mats (330s branded or otherwise)

What front splitter have you put on yours?

I have been through the thread but can't remember the answers to these!!

Many thanks

Having gone down the non authorised route with my last car I really wanted to tread the dealer line with this in terms of engine mods. When it comes to resale, an intact warranty is worth it's weight in gold.

That said, the Litch Handling kit, Rota Torques and soon to be Friction Performance discs, pads and braided hoses will be non-dealer approved.

Cheers all re brake upgrades - off to spec some PFs and discs. Presume Litch do them?

Should be getting mine back end of this weekend/weekend. Pre owned, but has a few nice extras that make it very attractive from a drivers point of view. So goodbye M3, hello scoobs again for the day to day work!

Have answered your questions below, if you want no bother at all with your warranty suggest you stay with the Prodrive Performance Pack, fit Prodrive lowering springs and get the geo/4 wheel alignement done by a specialist. If you have a friendly dealer/use your common sense and are happy to change some stuff over if something goes wrong please read on

The Tein lowering springs were very good before I went over to full AST suspension setup. Not used the Prodrive ones (which are made by Eibach) so can't comment on them. Make sure you get the geo/4 wheel alignment done by someone who knows what they are doing, some dealers are ok, but my cars settings were all over the place when I bought it, this makes a huge difference. There are a few discussions earlier in this thread about other worthwhile handling modifications

Does anyone have the Milltek cat-back exhaust and how much did it cost (please PM me if you'd rather not divulge the cost on here!)

Yes I have one. Suggest if you are thinking about going this way you stretch your budget now and get the full turbo back Milltek system (with de-cat and/or sports cat). Cost was list price from Ian at Litchfields but got a good deal on the fitting...sounds great (not too loud day to day) and gives the flow rates you need to get decent bhp/torque. You should also fit a high flow panel air filter (think the 330S already has one fitted) in the standard airbox or consider a Forge or AEM cold air induction kit (filter inside the wing/out of the engine bay model) while you are at it

Forgot to ask the dealer this but would a 2009 car still need the ecu re-flash and are there still problems?

Had to have an engine replaced under warranty (UK STI not 330S) because of the previous dodgy factory ecu map from Japan so know a bit about this. Heard the updated map sorts out the problems (they are explained in detail on this thread and other forums). The 330S ecu is swapped over when the cars enter the UK from Japan so it should be ok (they exchange your original ecu with one that has been re-mapped by Prodrive).

But if you are getting the full Milltek system you would be best of having an EcuTek re-map done by a decent mapper (Litchfields, Richard Bulmer, Simon from Jolly Green Monster & Andy Forrest all good as are others). A bespoke re-map is always better than the generic Prodrive map. Since I had mine EcuTek'd have not had any problems (touch wood)

Should the car come standard with floor mats (330s branded or otherwise)

No - but bargain hard with the dealer mate and it will

What front splitter have you put on yours?

Original STI one from Subaru, not cheap but looks good and is hard wearing (mine has taken loads of abuse over the last year and is still ok)

I have been through the thread but can't remember the answers to these!!

Many thanks

Thanks Dave - appreciated.

Going to see a 330s on Saturday, have agreed a deal in principle subject to viewing.

Not sure I can justify the cost of the STI splitter - IIRC it's around £375. I've currently got a Scott Lowe V-Limited one on my Hawkeye which is very good. Tried accessing his website but it appears to be down?

Think the first mod I'll be doing is getting the fog light lense removed and fitting a clear one from Revolution - assume they are easy enough to swap.Haven't seen anywhere else that sells them at the moment though.

Will also take a trip to Litchfield at some point to have either the handling pack fitted (without the AST set-up) and have the Prodrive springs fitted or just get the standard pack - with the steering, rear ARB and wheel alignment but again with the Prodrive springs (have read on here he can get them?)

Have been offered the Milltek exhaust at 'cost price' (circa £580 - told it's £750 new?)

Not sure if this was turbo back or cat-back though.

Thanks again for the replies - this thread has been a wealth of info!

Renny, Have a search on ebay for a lip spoiler they are roughly £130 with postage and they are the urathane flexi ones.

rear fog light is easy enough to remove 2 nuts on the edge of the tailgate, one is hidden under the rear plastic cowling pull the cowling down to gain access to the 3rd nut and it will just pull out

May be worth contacting Iain Litchfield regarding the splitter, we bought a genuine STI splitter from him when we bought the car certainly wasn't the price the dealers are quoting

Have the handling kit fitted to ours without springs or AST's, feels a lot better on the road, well worth the money
