I'm getting a custom top mount made by AH Fabrications who make bespoke cooling products for WRC, F1, Touring Cars and even RCM.

It'll handle 500hhp with all the advantages of a top mount but with far less drawbacks than a front mount.

Also Mishimoto make a top mount capable of handling 500bhp or so, it's on offer at the moment for the bargain price of £401.00 including delivery.

Reduced pipework length, ease of install, no need to go chopping the front panel and bumper as the cheaper front mounts require, and as you've said the car will look standard and a sleeper.

Feel free to say that you've read about them on forums, I do warn you that the price may well be eye watering, but then again the quality front mounts aren't exactly cheap either.

I run the mishimoto X line radiator. Bit of a squeeze using the std fans and having a fmic pipe up there. Works fantastically, only drawback is it keeps the engine oil too cool in winter. cant get any were near 80c

Interesting. What do you do about the low temps?

I will use the mishimoto fan cowl which i think allows more room, you can get them on ebay for £40.

Better to ring them and have a chat, they are so busy that they may not even get to your email for a while.

I do like the white Hatchback STi's, they are nearly as fast as the WR blue cars.

What has been done to the car in order to achieve the high BHP, I'm assuming that is at the crankshaft - have you had the car remapped for UK fuel or do you run with octane booster?

i just posted my own build thread in this forum if you'd like to check it out ... on an American " mustang dyno" it made 590awhp/490awtq which typically reads anywhere from 15% lower than a dynojet / dynodynamics dyno so on one of those dyno's it made 680/564 at the wheels .... so still @ the crank add 30% on the first numbers and 15% to the second set of numbers

I have ordered a MY11 front bumper plus all the associated parts to fit to my Hatchback STi.

Many thanks to Rob with the answers to my questions, I do prefer the look of the later bumper personally.

Plus I really screwed down my local dealer to the floor and managed to get all the parts around £200 cheaper than other dealers were quoting me.

The bumper and trims will still need painting as they aren't available in WR blue, I don't think I have seen a WR blue car with this bumper so hopefully should look pretty good.

It does have a smoother look, more evocative of the earlier cars in a way.

Can you post the part list? Will the dealer repeat your deal?

Make sure you fit the MY11 Zun mesh top and bottom, fills the lower opening really nicely!

Yes it definitely improves the look and gives the car a more purposeful look.

I don't see why not but you'd have to collect from Abergavenny, as my bumper and trims need to be repainted WR blue the dealer mixed and matched the parts to get the best price possible.
