So I've decided to keep my old wheels and keep them for winter rims, but I need new tyres for then so the question is, do I put on standard tyres or winter tyres? Thanks

If they are just going to be used as your winter or cold month set then definitely winter tyres. I had winters on mine a couple of years ago and they were amazing.

Summer tyres were Goodyear f1, which were really good. Winters were cheapish nangkang sv2 They were actually amazing in the snow and cold weather. Pretty much any winter tyre will outperform the best summer tyre... In winter

Just driving to work at 60 on a dual carriage way with cruise control on. Then i slightly lose power, engine light is on, cruise control is flashing and the si-drive isnt working and the traction lights on?

First thing i thought was ringland failure etc but it still drives fine.

Any ideas people?

Jamie

Any ideas what this does on the rear near side suspension? It's mounted just inboard of the ARB fixing point. It seems to be measuring the deflection of the suspension, what does it get used for?

DTC P0024 EXHAUST AVCS SYSTEM 2 (RANGE/PERFORMANCE)

DTC DETECTING CONDITION:
Detected when two consecutive driving cycles with fault occur.
TROUBLE SYMPTOM:
• Engine stalls.
• Improper idling

Yep you need to get the codes read properly as that could have consequences.

The AVCS system needs checking and maybe an oil/filter change if correct code.

Hadn't thought of that, but it's only sensing on one side, so wouldn't that mean the headlights were aimed differently depending on a left or right hand corner?

Edit: maybe it averages out the reading over a few minutes, so it would detect if you put something heavy in the boot, but wouldn't notice any sharp left/right turns or speed bumps etc.

Oil changes are the first port of call with these faults. Bank 2 is the passenger side exhaust system.

When I do a diagnostic check on these I run a data log & watch the advance and retard on the 2 exhaust cams passenger and drivers, Ideally they need to be linear with each other but what I expect with yours is if you were to hold the revs at 1500rpm the cam on the driver side would be around 19-20% angle were as the passenger side would go to 45% straight away before the ecu realises there's an issue and starts to reduce the duty cycle on the solenoid valve to 0% to control it. The one I had ruined the return spring one the AVCS pulley as it was jumping to maximum and not returning due to the solenoid valve sticking fully open.

I have no diagrams to hand unfortunately but if you remove the engine undertray you will see the valve on the passenger side cylinder head you cant miss it.

so in the end needed the valve and the pulley.

Hi rob,

Thanks for that! Sort of makes it abit clearer lol

I had a service around 2 months ago and oil seemed fine to me. I had the fault cleared for the time being and if it comes back then i will have to look in more detail.. Fingers crossed its fine

Cheers Jamie

Non of those I'm afraid. all this sensor does is headlight level & is an mot failure if it doesn't work or its broken.
