Passed its first MOT this morning - I was a bit worried on the emissions as I'm not 100% sure what the previous owner has done, but the results came out *way* under the allowable limit (like CO2 0.001% where the limit is 0.3%). Does this sound correct, or should I just make sure I always go back here :-)
Also just got my new Nokian WR-A3's mounted to the rims and balanced, first morning I have to work at 7°C or under they're going on...

I only have one button on my key, and to unlock all doors (or the boot) you need to press it once, wait 2 seconds (but not more than 3 seconds or it locks again) and then press it again. It's stupid if you've got a passenger stood there in the rain waiting to get in and you get the timing wrong, you don't know if it's locked or unlocked and you look a right tit

Hi guys I'm just about to order a Hayward and Scott cat back for my 09sti will this be ok without a remap?
Thanks
Also I'm thinking 2.5 inch system would be better than the 3 inch as I have no map, am I correct?

Get the exhaust you want and remap it. Changing the exhaust changes the stresses on the engine.
I'd recommend an uprated panel filter or cold induction kit while you're at it.
But then again I'd also recommend forging the pistons, connecting rods, bottom end and uprating the head gaskets when funds allow!

Only if you remove the main primary cat will you need to remap the ecu to suite

No the alarm module cannot be fitted by yourself as it needs programmed into the vehicle

Okay guys some advice needed re: clutches
When I was running 365/365 I had an AP Racing Organic clutch
When I stepped up to 390/430 the AP started slipping so I had a Helix Organic clutch fitted (advised by tuner)
Just 10,000 miles later this is slipping now… No drag racing, just v occ flat foot shifts.
FWIW I have now read that the Helix is actually only rated to 370lb - can any one confirm ?
So now what ?
Firstly, seems two options only. Twin plate Exedy Hyper (spoke at length to the two Steve's at Exedy) or the Scoobyclininc provided Competion clutches stage two single plate.
Twin plate rated happy at 450/450 maxing out at 550lbs - costing £1300 plus fitting (comes with new flywheel all in one unit). Oem'ish pedal I'm told, takes a bit of getting used to, rattles when not in gear, but super solid (thanks Jay).
Competition stage two clutch rated upto 490 lbs, but pedal much heavier, 'should be ok' around town - costing £400 plus fitting, possible extra cost of new flywheel if damaged (another £300+). Exedy do a heavy duty version of their organic clutch available in USA ie v similar spec upto 490lb - but was told great for track, but miserable in town - killing the joy of it.…
So experiences, advice, or wisdom welcome please guys
I'm leaning towards the twin purely out of not wanting to do this again when the sc46 finally goes on, lifting the numbers again.
And probably worth saying.… when I read online the Helix was only rated to 370lbs I felt a bit robbed. Like 'they knew' I'm running 430lbs - so it's obvious it's gonna fail. TBH on the way home after Helix fitment it slipped at 4000 revs - still bedding in I was told. Then it always juddered a little in traffic once warm (weird I know), often a little smellie. It could be that the rating I noted was atw meaning it should have been alright - giving the benefit of the doubt.

Exedy - had 3 of them on clasic scoobies, 2 juddered for england ( 1 fitted by dealer! ).
The other one of those was the hiper to handle over 400 lb ft .. but was on/off and no use in traffic.
Bottom line - removed each of these within 3 - 6 months as not fit for road driving.
Not used Helix, seem budget make?
AP Organic rule the roost in my view, had a couple with no problems, at 400 lbft / bhp on classic.
Have a look on line for CC clutches / competition clutches ... see the users views ... not impressed with the one I had.
Just my views of course!

Jaysti went rotated not too long ago and is running 550's -
he's using the new Exedy Hyper twin plate and has been impressed this far....
I know a lot of the earlier Exedy pink box clutches suffered judder but thought they'd finally cracked it. I was also told to talk to Olly Clark re new twin plates oem'ish feel but thought I'd offer it out here first.
BTW the AP's are good but not strong enough - it's the torque rating they can't handle.
Cheers guys v keep em coming.

Twin plates can be very noisey when dipping the clutch if you can tolerate it. AP Organic is the way to go in my book. Fit them on my power builds & no complaints
All opinions appreciated thx. Hasn't helped too much.

I then lost the pm and couldn't be arsed to rewrite it, sorry mate.
In short, I can't hear the rattling because my exhaust is so loud, even with a new resonated centre section. So depends how loud your exhaust is haha
Thx
I did give you a more detailed review on the clutch....but when I went to send the pm your inbox was full

So Rob - what rating is the AP - I thought it was 330lbs atw = 370/380lbs fly ?
Please correct me if I'm wrong : )

Ask AP Racing, or a main dealer for them?

I know one car that changed the system (std downpipe left in place).
Alas it suffered failure just before remap.
Granted, it was probably already in a failing state
