Can anyone recommend good brake pads for a round £100. First weekend driving the car and the brakes are not up to it atall. There's a lot of brake dust on my wheels so I think cheap brake pads are fitted currently.

I didn't rate EBC pads much, but tried the NDX pads and they are pretty good.

Can't remember price ( got them with 2 piece discs off Ian @ Godspeed ) couple of years ago.

 

hi guys I was over at mangoletsi in knutsford the other day having something done to my impreza whilst I was waiting I spent sometime oggling the two cosworths they have in. I really like the fact every silver trim that we have is gloss black in the cosworth i think it is a nicer finish.

have any of you experienced owners removed all the internal plastic trim or though about changing your colour scheme. I dont want to just start pulling the dash and door cards apart to find they dont seperate.

in addition to the above the cosworths foglight surrounds are also gloss black and the front grill trim again has anyone found if these parts split.

I would really like to take them all of and send them off to be sprayed.

 

All the bits of silver trim are easy to get off. The door trim is one screw hidden under the rubber plug as you look down on the handle. The trim running across the passenger dash has one screw hidden behind the panel when you open the passenger door. Once that's off you can also prise off the trim around the stereo. The centre console trim can be removed by taking off bits of panelling around the handbrake lever I think. There's a how to if you google it.

One thing though - don't get it done in gloss black. Dust it once and in the sunlight you'll have gloss black trim that looks like its been attacked with sand paper. It doesn't matter if you use a £100 polishing cloth to dust it. It will swirl mark like a *******

 

I had my grill trim and fog covers don gloss black the other weekend, the fog covers are moulded, so you will need to part-dissasemble the rear covers and mesh, but mask around the silver. I stuck with the interior, gloss doesscratch easily, considering satin for the insides... also less glare while driving.

Ok guys need help deciding something.

Have arranged to buy a set of 18" 2011 sti wheels with Nokian wrg2 tyres on, with only 500 miles of use. Basically I currently have a set of 17s in grey with Dunlop sport max tyres which are about 40% worn.

If I buy the 18" wheels I can't afford to change the tyres but the guy I'm buying them from is saying the nokians are great all season tyres and there's no performance issue running them all year round.

So my question is do I stay with 17s and dunlops or buy the 18s and run them with Nokian tyres?

They can be used all year round without issues but they are soft and if you enjoy driving they detract from the driving experiennce as it feels like driving on sponges.

Also if you drive enthusiastically you will shred them very soon.

What dimensions are they and how much are you after for them? I may be interested depending on price.

 

well I had considered taking the winter tyres off and selling them but it won't give me enough funds to buy a new set of summer tyres for 18" alloys.

I think on ebay they're about £120 a pair for half worn ones. They're 245/40/18

 

its wrong time of yr to be selling winter tyres nobdy wants them now ! so prices fall ! I would say either run them till u can afford aset of summer tyres or try & get a part worn set till u can afford new set & either sell or put back on winter tyres nearer end of yr, prices will go up nearer winter months

Yes that's them mate. They do make a considerable difference to the rear end float when cornering hard

 

What are people's suggestions on rear pads. I've got Aztec performance Kevlar on the front and to be honest in the cold weather they take ages to cook to get any grip from them. My rear pads are almost dead. Do I just fit standards like brembo oe fitment or go uprated in the rears too?

 

Would anyone have a front grille badge by any chance?

 

What's the best red coach line to use on the front grille.

 

Always used Halfords pinstripe, lasted for 3 years on the hatch with a weekly jetwash and never faded.
