14000 miles hatch 330S, uses very little / no oil between oil changes ( 6 monthly roughly ).

Unfortunately, as mickP says above, get it checked out as other people with failing pistons / engines have reported incresed oil usage aound the time thefailure occurs.

Ps she is running fine and is running the full ppp set up from the showroom and has just under 10000 on the clock
As Rob says Subaru tell you 1lt per 1000 miles is acceptable but the only time mine has used any oil is when it failed. Even now with forged piston and a bigger clearance mine doesn't use any oil.

So, if I wanted to have an engine rebuild using forged parts who would I go to?? I know engine tuners in devon have a very good rep. but I'm based in surrey. are there any scooby tuners in my area?....and what sort of price would I be looking at?

your comments would be very welcome at this uncertain time

Cheers

I've used Townend Garage in Lancs and Enginetuner in Plymouth for engine builds, Barrats in Canterbury for transmission builds, all a fair distance from Norfolk/Suffolk. Its worth the aggro of distance to get the best people.
You will need to spend a time discussing with various builders exactly what you want - this will change as the discussions progress !
Then decide who to use. Took me about 2 months talking to various people, getting their ideas/recommendations/prices etc to decide on what I wanted and who to build my last one (Enginetuner).

Im in Leeds and have Alan marked as my pref when the time comes, Ive also spoken to a few other though.

Alan has drive in drive out mods, but if its a rebuild your looking at longer, he will i think lend you one of his passion wagons as a temp fix,

I just hope it aint a Princess or Allegro

I think I have driven all of Alan's passion wagons. And I have broken all of his worst ones and sent them to a retirement home.
They were all worth putting up with. Just makes the grin on your face even bigger when you get your car back

Anyone fitted anything different than the STI front lip spoiler, thinking of changing to something a little more aggresive.

Think Rigged has but cannot find the pic?

Cheers

Some ctun hit my car last night, hit me on the o/s rear arch/bumper
- was already in front of him, 2 lanes narrowed into 1, he sped up and tried to squeeze beside me, i veered left but limited to kerb and missed most of the blow!!!

on another note, anyone interested in buying the c/f 'cosworth' spoiler???

only test fitted to the car, not been on for more then 5 minutes!!!

Had prodrive springs fitted a couple of weeks ago, not quite as much of a drop as expected (or there has been when i've had them on previous cars - could do with a front/rear measurement from another hatch, floor to arch top) but big improvement on the ride & handling......but........have been getting a clunking noise since they've been on. Installer has looked & nothing obvious (no play anywhere, everything tightened) so thinks it might be movement of the spring itself(?) Anyone else had these springs on a hatch & had any issues?

Got Prodrives on mine and no issues. They don't drop the car as much as on previous models but they will sag a bit more from first fitted given time/use.

Where are the cluncks coming from, front, rear, left, right etc?

Guys

Where did you get the Prodrive spring kit from?

Subaru say they don't do these anymore
They are not on the Prodrive website either?

Hmmm, interesting. Try ordering with the part number - SACC2812

If you don't get any joy with your dealer using the part number it's always worth contacting Prodrive direct. Just because your dealer can't get doesn't mean that there aren't any and Prodrive are usually OK with supplying direct on 'obsolete' items if they have them in stock.

HTH, Neil

Thanks Neil

I'll try Prodrive tomorrow via email.
My dealer is pretty good, he told me that he had rang Subaru Accessories.
Its not on their website, or the subarupartsstrore website, or the UK brochure for that matter.
And its not on Prodrives website anymore either.

Cheers
Shaun

No problem Shaun,

I always just phone them on 01295 273355. Much faster response than email and if they've got them you'll be able to pay by card there and then.

Let us know how you get on, I'm sure others will be interested.

Cheers, Neil

CHEVRON MOTORSPORTS, Stafford.

I spoke to Simon there regarding their TMI for the 2.5

Using F1 technolgy they have made a tmi that outperforms all but the very best front mounts.

The F1 core costs £1600 alone then they add the "in's and out's" bumping it up to £1800 plus vat OUCH....

Their was some comments by guru John Banks on 22B.com on how well it worked on track. One of the TIME ATTACK Subaru's is running one (second season I think) and doing very well with it too.

Anyhow Simon told me that they were road testing another variation of the tmi which would bring the price down to a 'reasonable amount' - around £1k possibly. All results should be sussed by the end of the month.

Thus it will soon be possibly to run a high powered 2.5 with a hybrid top mount that outperforms many front mounts...

If I hear positive results it could be a good thing to haggle up for a 'group buy' ?

Whadoyatink...

I can save him the call, Prodrive don't have any left i'm afraid (that's what they told me anyway). Your dealer will have to try Subaru direct & they only had limited supply when i got mine about a month ago. Failing that maybe ring round other dealers on the off chance?

Front, poss both sides but difficult to be sure, only when manouvering at really slow speeds (3 point turn, reverse off steep drive etc). Otherwise OK, no noises when going lock to lock when stationary & none when moving say 5mph plus! Bushes/track rod ends etc checked & all seem OK.
