Ok guys, need a bit of help making my mind up.

I've got 2 spare 17" wrx rims sat in my wardrobe. Now heres the conundrum

I want to change the colour of the rims (the silver on a black car is minging). can't make up my mind if I get 4 new 18" or 2 new 17's and get all 4 recoloured. Car needs lowering to suit either option.

As its still under warrenty for the next 45k miles I can't change the brakes and then I'm not sure if any will fit without hassle.

I know this is going to sound like sacralige, but I've never been a fan of gold wheels! Was thinking something like a dark athracite with maybe a red highlight. Not entirely sure, depends on what teh powder coater can do and for how much.

Cool

Just been down to my local Stealers 'Waldonway Subaru'...

Replaced a lost headlamp washer top (cover on bumper) - must be 5cm long and 2cm wide in Spark silver...

How much !!!!! A packet of crisps short of £50 .... blimey guvnor

Saw A Cossie STi there - better in the flesh. Nice retrim on seats. Nice door cards. Nice black glossy bits on dash. Crap stereo tho' - no satnav ? Stupid massive Cosworth sticker over dash passengers side.

And slightly wonky Cosworth sticker on back... looked like they got it from Halfords.

Nice car as it is - peeps must be absolutely gormless or incredibly rich to pay £ 50k for a £ 35k car

Let the modifications begin

Did the rear fog the other day, need to find a brighter red led/bulb though.

Also, Mags from Ruislip Tyre Service sorted me out with some Rota GTR's and some tyres. Great guy, great service, great prices !!!!

ROTA GTR (P-45F)
18 x 8.5 - et35 - 5 x 114.3 stud pattern
245 / 40 / R18 - Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric

Got them fitted in the rain and as soon as they were on, the sun started to shine

I'll get some better pics when I have cleaned it tomorrow. Next on the agenda in terms of mods are :

Rally Armors (being shipped atm)
Prodrive springs
Progressive tints on the windows
Front lip spoiler
Some suspension mods perhaps / arb's etc
etc etc

Just need to get them scrubbed in now !

Thumbs up Suspension upgrades....

So you want to tweak the handling without making it 'too hard'...

In this order....

1. 'Professional tuner' 4 wheel computer geo set up will put it on rails

2. Whiteline 24mm Front and 22mm rear Arb's will deal with the rolling ship feature

3. Whiteline rear subframe plastic inserts will tighten up the sloppy 'floating axle' design AND will stop it steppin' out at speed (which they can do when pressing on)

4. Springs will sharpen / stiffen it all up a bit, including the ride - but look good

Other options include drop links and alk, which will make a difference if you are a trackstar, otherwise on the road they can equate to more road/transmission noise.

My brief to Powerststion (who did 'all the development work' on the new 08Sti T20) was to improve handling but not at the expense of a bumpy ride - it was decided to fit the above and leave the rest. I really wont be doing anything else unless i decide to do regular trackdays.

A

PS The above are 'very similar' to the spec C mods now on the new cars... or possibly a little better : )

.

Thanks for that

I have the fast road settings and Prodrive springs already on. Will have a look at the arb's and subframe inserts. Track fun is unlikely for me so these should suffice.

Think i will get these done, give it 6 months then have a change.

depends on your PCD.

I thought the wrx-s was on 100pcd hubs...like the diesel...but I may be wrong.

I think from reading previous posts this is possible, however as Kyle sais the pcd will be your main issue.

http://subaruhatch.forumotion.com/br...grade-t255.htm

http://subaruhatch.forumotion.com/br...tions-t289.htm

I think your best bet may be to go for some older STI gold brembos with the correct pcd.

Thanks

I reckon the arbs and subframe inserts are without doubt the best / cheapest / most effective mod I've done, but you will have to have the geo all set up again.

You are correct. Brakes are causing me a headache. The Sti's will fit, but not under our 17's.

Another option, but we don't know if it works is see if an older Sti's will fit say on a my03 before the STi went up to 114 pcd.

Not many options out there.

One option is a replacement panel for the centre air vents, monkeyboy racing IIRC, Scooby L has this.

Another is to replace the radio with a single din unit, Rob has done this and fitted 3 gauges in the space below.

Zerosports also do a pod that goes to the right of the steering cowl, stupidly priced though.

A few more on US sites but nothing that is any better IMO than the above.

I think that is what has been done in one of links above, they are gold Brembos anyway.
