Thanks for the clarification, maybe dealer thinks its too much like hard work to get the short shift fitted.

I am aware the WRX is 5sp & the STI 6sp I was commenting on the shorter throw on the STI gear change.

Gutted will not be able to go to NBO. After 100% effort by Alan J, Iain L and RCM.
Car within hours of being ready to run in.
Oh well maybe next week ........

But the Jolly Green Monster eliminated it completely with another re-map...give him a call

looking good mate, lovely looking car

you probably already know this, but you can get a JDM clear right rear light with a red LED fog light bulb from Ian at Litchfields to match up the rear lights if you want...

Sorry to hear that Stan, but it will be worth the wait you lucky bar steward. Your car is going to be a beast by the time Alan has finished with it...must be getting close to 450/450 or more with the changes you have made I reckon

The center is indeed 2.5 but the back box section is all 3
Hope this helps.
i didnt want to mess with the flow rate too muc.
sounds amazing and has 2 back boxes so each twin exit has its own.
better flow rate and better noise lol

Trying for sensible engine life so although it could exceed 500 () with a different turbo, the thinking is to go for between 450-480. But Martyn will see what the mods are comfortable with .

Well, just to make it interesting, I have got a H&S sports cat downpipe in 3" to the decat pipe in 3" tapering to 2.5" at end so as to mate with PPP back pipe and box. So I can go to full 3" later ( Ian at H&S will mod the 3" - 2.5" e pipe for me to all 3").

Arron - am I right, back box(es) is 3" entry.

What diameter is the pipe from the back box to ( PPP ) decat pipe? Is that 3" or 2.5? Basically where does the 3" bit end!

Ta

A Litchfield/Miltek 3" turbo back exhaust may be for sale soon.
£1500 new from Litchfield. Nice and quiet/civilised but freer flowing so extra power Would include original center section/resonator (removed) and the replacement straight centre pipe which makes it sound better.

Default engine failure - at 6653miles.............

well the curse of the engine failure in the 08/09 hatches has landed on my doorstep - the impreza has to ungergo heart surgery with only 6654 miles on it......

on the way home from the Scoobyireland spring run i noticed that it wasnt just as responsive as normal - didnt know what it was + car was due its service so left it in with Eastwoods in Lisburn to see if they could get to the bottom of it...

to cut a long story short the car was serviced & injector cleaner added + ecu reset & all was hunky dorey for a few days (as scoobyblue can confirm... ) but the problem returned so it went back to Eastwoods & had a compression test done last week & guess what.....no4 cylinder is down on compression

at this point i cant thank Ross, Conor & Norman in Eastwoods enough - they were straight on the case & have a new short motor ordered, fresh off the production line in Japan.........big down side is that it means the impreza will be off the road for a good while & wont be at scoobyfest
i have read about several engine failures on the 08/09 models - ranging from 3000-25000miles covered......i know a lot of owners are driving their pride & joy with the thought in the back of their mind that some day it just might let go........... only upside for me is that with this happening i will know that my new engine will be 100%.......

i could understand it if i was driving the life out of it - the amount of times i've had in on the rev limiter could be counted on 1 hand thats just not my stlye of driving - i had the rev buzzer set at 6500 & never even heard it..............

i only ever take it out in decent weather (its never seen road salt during all the frost/snow except spotting the odd gritter through the garage window where it was snug as a bug in a rug......) + i warmed it up & cooled it down after every drive................

as is often said - sh*t happens...........................................

Sorry to hear that AJ. What power were you running (just interested if there is a link between power and engine failure - assuming the ecu had been reflashed).
Good news that its being sorted.
After 3 months without it, it starts to get serious !!

my car got the prodrive pack fitted at its 12mth service, approx 4600miles on it so its was running 330bhp - i know there are other hatches that are running a lot more power but i wanted to keep it standard, both from a resale point of view + God forbid if anything happened then it would be covered by warranty.......

are you serious that your car has been off the road for 3months - whats going on that it's taking so long to get it sorted ?????

General pattern seems that anything under about 360 if mapped correctly from new survives (so far).

Agree, mine went at low miles when my car was completely standard and well looked after. After the replacement short engine went in I did loads of mods and got a bespoke re-map (thanks JGM for a det free 360bhp) and it's been been fine for 20K miles (touch wood). If I hold onto the car after the warranty runs out I will be going down the forged internals route...

Seems the only way not to suffer det and piston failure is to have a bespoke re-map, how mad is that, both Subaru and Prodrive with all their resources can't eliminate the problem, but a bloke with a laptop in Surrey can....

Not good bud, you are right about it playing in the back of the mind. Reading you post though, mines goes unresponsive, almost like its holding back. It does clear and runs normal. But I hope this is not the start of major failure

Bad news AJ
Norman told me a couple of months ago that they hadn't had any hatch failures.

Oh - and get your details on here too

I've got the hesitation/holding back intermittently issue too. 1500-2000 revs on light throttle, been to dealer, diagnostics OK, ECU cleared but didn't completely solve it. Different petrol station for V-power improved it dramatically but still there occasionally. Waiting a second reply from dealers as to what to do next, remap tempting but can't risk invalidating warranty with possible failure hanging over me! Crazy.
Good job the car is in every other respect a belter!!!
STi PPP btw.

dont want to be the one that bursts your bubble but thats the way mine was at the start as well - i tried 3 different petrol types thinking it was bad fuel - i was even given some injector cleaner by my dealer to add to the fuel, all to no avail

mine was also PPP'd & had covered less that 2000miles...... the only way to get to the bottom of the issue is to get a compression test done - if there's any problem then it'll show up there....
