HAs SN taken a step backwards with the ADULT section
Why don't you take the "rules" to your adult hardcore **** section.... screw them into a little ball and shove them where the sun doesn't shine..... then if you feel the need to "discuss" the sensation you feel then do so in the moderator forum
This is a discussion thread, not a READ THIS, DON'T DISCUSS.... thread HTH

Anything you say will be taken down, ripped up and shoved down your scrawny little throat until you've choked to death. Gene Hunt, Chapter 1, Verse 2.
Some serious dummy spitting going on here, if you don't agree with it do not click on it. Problem solved.
You should see some of the **** posted in fight club, makes the adult section look like Mary poppins

No disrespect here, but how does something offend you, if you don't look at it? This forum is providing a section for those who want to use it, those who don't or have an issue with it, are not being forced to go in.
Smokescreen? Hardly!
In the time I have been a moderator I don't recall ONE instance when I've had to reprimand a paying member for trolling. I have never had to ban a paying member for any length of time. It is ALMOST INVARIABLY non paying members that troll and cause trouble.
Why? Cause they are buoyed on by anonymity and lack of accountability. If they get banned so what, they don't lose anything!
A paying member knows that
a) We know who they are and can hold them accountable
b) If they get banned they're out of pocket
I'm sorry if that's distasteful, but that's the truth and I'm sure the other mods will report similar experiences!
The only way of stopping spammers is to remove access rights to paying members: people don't pay to spam!
As for the rest of SN being sterilised by the adult section, not going to happen. If you post content that is suitable for viewing by all ages then it stays, simple as. Adult material wasn't allowed in the open access forums before and it isn't now. No change.
The difference is that there is now a place for it, which is necessarily restricted!

I wasn't being sarcastic when I said I enjoyed a bit of banter with trolls btw

And for the rest, with respect, I totally disagree but I will have to wait and see how things turn out, not being a soothsayer an' all

Don't know about the spamming though, how come there isn't a load of spamming on the other sections?
Or would it only be a problem if the Adults section turned out to have content made up mostly of ****, hence attracting spammers (which would mean that saying it's not only for hot shexy action would be a bit of a white lie, as clearly the expectation that it would be a **** haven would have to have already been made by making it paid up members only).
The above might only make sense to me right now though, knackered and hungry!

Depends; Moderation of NSR is mostly prompted on the basis of how busy the RTM section gets by people reporting inappropriate posts; And that won't change (certainly not whilst SSU is still about
).To that end, on the whole, its down to the users to attract our attention to something they think is inappropriate, then we act on our own discretion. So that hasn't changed either. The forum rules also haven't changed.
Will a moderator's discretion when applying the rules change? Ahh, you have me there, as it will change slightly. Instead of deleting and zapping inappropriate threads and posts, we have an alternative option to move them to the adult section. So I can use the move option as a substitute to deleting threads of an adult nature.
The only other thing that might change is the users perception of what is/isn't allowed in NSR now. And thats something I cannot predict, so its just speculation. Will people RTM threads of an adult-ish nature more because of the presence of an alternative forum? Maybe, maybe not. Lets wait and see

Dear God. Read the entire post you moron.
I was replying to someone who said as he didn't think motorbikes had any place in a car forum, he wanted them banned. Thereby drawing a comparison between **** and motor bikes.

Do you understand now, or shall I try words of one syllable?

Will it water down NSR?

You've covered the angles I was speculating on and I'm in agreement with you tbh. I do worry that it will prompt more RTM's and people's lack of understanding of what is allowed may make the posting a bit more dull for a while but, as you mention, we'll just have to wait and see.
Cheers,
Tom

no but the problem arrises when I first log on and get a list of new postings.....some very dodgy threads listed there, that I don't want to see.!
But if you also look at it from a different angle, it gives something back to the existing paying members (if it's their thing). Certain things have been taken away from members (with good reason), and the search for example was opened up to all. Obviously this is only applicable to those who are interested in going in there.

damn! I was hoping no one would bring that up,
that's far too much positive thinking for me right now

Good point well made though Lisa!
I haven't read many of the posts on this but here's my opinion after a 10 minute troll through the new forum.
I don't have a problem with pictures portraying nudity, a bit of tit or fluff is harmless, but links to hardcore **** and what I'd call gyno shots is too much for here, and I am considered one of SNet's pervs
That sort of stuff is easily found in seconds should you want it. A bit of banter and some scanty laydeez is good fun, but what I saw in there earlier is way too strong IMHO. The recent WAG's thread with a glimpse of nipple, butt cheek and fur would be fine though.

KOT: It's already there mate, Stu put it in as a sticky in the first instance as the description of the forum is quite clear: don't come in if you're likely to be offended by adult material!
Torquemada: get some food!
Whether material deemed inappropriate for NSR ends up sin binned or in the adult section is kind of a moot point: material deemed not safe for all ages had to go in the past and it will have to go now. The difference is there is now another destination for it to end up in.
Will I move stuff that isn't safe for all ages in the open access forums? Yes
Will I suddenly become more draconian in my interpretation of what is acceptable so I can move material with the ulterior motive of raising extra subscriptions to SN? No. I would find that morally objectionable and if asked to do it would resign as a mod.
The point is that we aren't on commission or anything like that: we do this for free! We have no vested interest in getting people to pay up!
Will the kinds of material that gets moved from open forums change? As Ali says, that depends largely on the community: the more they report, the more we see! It's always been that way!
Will this affect the perception of what is acceptable in open access forums. Probably: it could go either way, people might start asking why we're not moving stuff more readily, or might complain we're too keen. As with many decisions, there is scope for "grey" areas and judgment calls will need to be made, BUT raising funds for SN WILL NOT be part of that call!
You have my word there is nothing underhand going on here!

What's the point in having this new sub-forum then? Why not just stick all this new adult stuff in Fight Club, with the rest of the **** that's already there?
Seems a bit silly to me.
It was too much positive thinking for me too, I've just had to take some painkillers.
So if you are a paying member you already have access to **** in Fight Club, so the powers that be have decided to give something back to the paying members who already have access to **** in the first place....

The new section isn't geared around fighting, but other aspects of adult posting, unsuitable for the main areas.
At the end of the day, it's merely a new forum, there if people want it. If people don't want that sort of thing from SN, they don't have to bother with it.
