We've just bought an 05 WRX PPP which we felt suited us more than an STI. I love the PPP for having what's effectively STI performance in a slightly more subtle form. I'm not knocking STIs, far from it as they're brilliant. It's just important to identify what's right for you and then have the conviction to wait for the right car I think. Either way, have fun!
And a great first post if I may say so, welcome to SN

Well, I went and got my new toy yesterday eve and woke with a smile this morn. She really is a minter, interior and exterior and has enough grunt for the middle aged G1t that I've grown into (for now atleast). I wont labour the point but the comments and advice offered on here really were a considerable help.

Thanks for all the posts so far - they really have been helpful.

I've only ever test driven a WRX (standard) and was pleased with the power output of that. I can only imagine a remap is going to be even better and I don't envisage needing any more power than a remapped WRX. So what I am trying to say is that I may just go for a WRX remapped.

Now I've read that although Prodrive is supposed to be putting out 265bhp - most people are of the opinion that there cars never reach this figure. So having had a look at a couple of ads on Pistonheads, I think a custom remap for the car in question is a better bet. With that in mind, I am seriously looking at these two cars...

Subaru : Impreza WRX PPP + ECO TECH upgrade 290bhp

Subaru : wrx uk 03. £1000's spent ,fsh,

What does everyone think?

One more thing.

Do all WRX's come with front foglights? I've noticed a few cars have slat covers but if I were to remove those slats, would I find foglights?

Also, how difficult is it to remove those front slats if I wanted to?

Mine made bang on Prodrive's figures for PPP. All basic WRX's came from new with fogs, some owners put the Sti covers on. The covers fit very easy.

Neither of those cars would appeal to me.

Thanks for that. I definitely like the foglights rather than covers.

Can I just ask why those two cars do not appeal to you?

Here's another I was looking at initially but then people were saying a custom remap is going to be better than Prodrive so I dismissed it. This one looks awesome as I've seen it on the forecourt in the flesh so to speak...

It's a personal thing nothing specific, I just prefer to buy std cars, you know what your getting.

These would be more my cup of tea.

I have to say as a first time Scooby buyer, we went for a franchised Subaru dealer for our 55 plated car. There were loads of cars - for the most part pretty good I'm sure - in independants on Autotrader but searching the Subaru website came up with 5 cars that interested us from the start and a bit of driving around and looking saw us get ours from Bulldog Twyford near Reading. In truth, I don't think we paid too much more than an independant dealer would charge so we're well happy. Like I said, you'll know the car when you see it, don't you worry!

Hi gang me again. I'm liking - verging on loving my ride but have a little problem. The car has after market new wheels fitted (Arcasting 17's they're Italian) with 215 40 17 (Nexen) tyres and the tyres are occasionally rubbing on the rear arch when I have 4 people onboard, infact, at a push I can make them rub with just me in the car. I've read on here about 18's rubbing but rarely 17's. I know I can and probably will contact the Dealer I got car from but can any of you offer advice as to why this is happening or if there's an easy fix?

(Thanks in anticipation face)

Actually here's the link. Help please I'm in danger of spending money!

(Tis pretty face)
Wagons at that age run a td04 turbocharger and they push out 220ps, lower than their saloon equivelants.

Thanks Tony. Having driven it a bit now, I'd already started thinking that it went pretty much like my TT (225) did before re-map (260). I got pretty used to the TT for about 6 months then had the map done and it was fun all over again. I'll probably go same way with this motor assuming I can get a re-map? Any joy on the tyres issue people?

(Anyone else working today face)

Did you get any joy on your tyres issue?

Incidentally, can anyone point me in the right direction regarding a Forge Motorsport Valve against the standard recycle unit please? Our PPP had the Forge unit fitted but Bulldog sent me a standard unit through the post to fit myself. Sometimes I can live with the noise, others I can't! So was wondering if there will be a real defecit if I fit the standard part?
Cheers
