Go to a remote part of Africa, South America or a place in east Asia or Northern Eastern Europe and the BIG clubs will be known.

You could say the same about any Premier League club with worldwide TV coverage. However, a season or two in the Championship would plunge any of the medium/small clubs into global obscurity though.

He probably remembers Oldham from his time in English management. I can't imagine many other Argies remembering Frankie Bunn or Andy Ritchie!

Well I can promise you he knew about English Football very well. And he'd never been in England either. From what he told me, theyre very knowledgable about the whole of English football.

Funnily enough I'm not so sure that NUFC will go down. I think that the unbelievable fall from grace by Hull City is going to save them.
Hull have only won 2 times in the last 27 Premier League matches, and one of those was only against Middlesbrough. In fact 28 games ago Hull were joint Top of the League and had only lost one game. Newcastle were 19th!
Similarly 'Boro have only won 2 times in 23 Premier League matches, and one of those was only against Hull!
Assuming WBA are as good as down, I can't see beyond 'Boro and Hull joining them in the Championship next year. It won't be thanks to Shearer though: just the inability of these two other sides to earn enough points to stay up.
Here's the run-in for the most endangered clubs (ignoring WBA):

Bolton v Hull
Hull v Man Utd
