Scooby370Beast,

I commend you on your extreme tuning knowledge and the level headed and reasonable approach with which you have conducted yourself in this discussion.

Good spot Sal, so Nitrux is remote control truck racing - do they have 340bhp then?

[serious mode]
SB307, seriously, I still don't know the difference between the EVC and the EVC PRO PRO PRO - please educate me?

You are all so clever.Everybody in here seems to know everything. Thanks for your advices guys and girls and it looks like everybody has faster cars than mine.Offcourse not to forget that everybody knows more than TDI which is one of the top tuning companys in the UK.You should all start your own tuning companies.

couldn't resist it,

but my wife and I cant help but notice that my car is significantly faster than yours!

and on what aurthority are TDi one of the top tuning companies for imprezas.

As it stands I dont trust any tuning company for imprezas, and there are that many.

Also wanted to point out, that your final drive ratios and craigs are exactly the same at 4.44. Yours is a shorter ratio gearbox which is where the difference is.

I still havent seen you doing 0-100 in 10 seconds.

another error of yours, no ferrari 360 is quicker than 4 seconds to 60, think you will find it is 4.6 for the 360 and 4.7 for the 355.

And since when does beating someone in a race mean you have a faster car? If i owned that ferrari and saw someone goading me into a race, I was avoid him like the plague, especially if an incident would cost me 100k but cost you 6k (plus the 14k you obvioulsy have no idea how to spend).

SB037,

You still haven't answered my question but to answer yours, no, I suspect that your car is faster than mine 'cos mine is a standard UK2000.....but I don't mind - I've got a bike with "proper" performance (but let's not go there (again )) and even if I didn't, it really doesn't bother me that you've got a faster car than me - it's really not important

Nobody has suggested that TDI don't know what they're talking about, only that they think that you don't. Also, I'm not sure the claim "one of the top tuning companys in the UK" is really accurate is it?

A lot of people on this BBS have found out the hard way that sometimes, "tuners" know a lot less than they seem to really, which is why there are so many cynics here....

I actually use a Gillette HC-VS PRO PRO razor, with Nitrux shaving foam to give a better finish.

I find this enables me to get increased off the line traction, and often I display the results to Ferrari and motorbike owners who are suitably impressed and run away weeping at the expense to which I have gone. Shiny *** (TM) often buffed - never beaten

It also means I can slide down my bat pole into my bat cave before sliding into my bat mobile - which is considerably faster than your scooby

Thumbs up

Oh I love threads like this that bait people who are easily wound up

To put Mr 370 out of his misery, it's not Nitrux, it's Nitrox. Why? Because it's short for Nitrous Oxide, which is also known as NOx because it is a mixture of various compounds of Nitrogen and Oxygen (NO2, NO3 etc).

So Mr 370 is doing a run down to Brighton? Aha! That explains it... off to show off to the 14 year-olds on Brighton waterfront no doubt.

Can't be bothered to enter into all this too much, except to say that running >1 bar of boost with a standard intercooler is safe - why else would the Prodrive Pack run at 1.15bar? And 'putting boost through the gearbox' is meaningless. It's all down to torque, which is dependent on lots of things, not just boost.

To start with on this thread I felt sorry for Mr 370 being given grief so quickly (which happens a bit too often on this BBS) but now I see he deserves it . Particularly when up against the likes of /J and CraigH!

So, in summary:

Hey hey hey to you all.I dont really care if you believe me or not and i dont care what you think of TDI or EDI or QDI.I dont care which people will follow my advice or they will follow other advices.Everybody is free to do whatever he thinks is right because we live in a free world with democracy. All i wanted by posting this thread was to see how many other subaru owners are really into modifications etc etc.I have learn in my life to believe what i see and ive been always seeking expert advice.I just posted "am i crazy" for fun and to find other real enthusiastic scooby modifiers. But it looks like there are so many "bad" scooby owners round the UK.Anyway all the best to all of you.

Good to see it all calming down some. Can tell the guy loves his car, nice to see people experiment. Most expensive mod I ever did was upgrade the My99PPP to a 22B..£17K for about 45bhp LOL
Peace!

Exactly.prodrive got 1.15 i said no more than 1.1 1.2 on overboost, which prodrive proves me right thank you.I suppose depends on how long you want your car for... I had 1.37 when i bought my car.Standard wrx and my gearbox's synchro was gone after 6 months. You want 1.3? depends on your car if its a prodrive or a type r or an sti v upwards or a P1 will be ok otherwise you shall find out your self..

Mate....seriously...(trying to stop giggling and write summat serious), relax.

I've been running 1.2 held bars for almost a year now, and 1.3 the last month in my measily euro spec turbo, with no problems.
1.3 on my uprated turbo (IHI VF24) is pushing it on our fuel (getting a wee bit sparkly sometimes in high loads)...but I'm sorting this out shortly.

IIRC the PPP ECU holds boost at a smidge below 1.2 as well.

If one would want to one could **** a gearbox with a stock car...it's all in how you treat the car.

And with your bragging about sub 4 0-60 dashes I can see why you're a bit scaredy on the subject.

Boost and torque (which kills gearboxes) aren't neccessarily connected as previously mentioned...U need fuel and ignition advance to achieve that.

And just as someone said...boost targets is what it's all about, running 1.3 all the way to the rev limit is another thing altogether than running it in the midrange.

i said no more than 1.1 1.2 on overboost

Is this what they call boost creep ?

So what is it ? 1 bar ? 1.1 ? 1.15 ? 1.2 ?

You *really* don't have a clue do you ?

Oh, and Prodrive doesn't talk in "bars": they talk torque ... they reckon 350 Nm is the safe limit for your gearbox, beyond that you are "on your own". (talking MY99/00 here)

You are giving out bad advice, you keep on mumbling after people point that out to you, and you STILL insist on showing your enormous knowledge of the Subaru Impreza.

Strange that we NEVER see any contributions from you in Drivetrain ? But then again, you already have your uprated dumpvalve, so why bother, right ?

Tssk Tssk.

Probably..No hard feelings Evil.Doesn't matter what you think about me.If you knew me like 10's of others scooby owners you would show some respect about my car and my knowledge. No hard feelings though.I ll try and help on the drivetrain problems anyway.

Not that I'm trying to inflame this or anything, but

Scoobybeast,

Do you do trackdays? Mo keeps saying about Bedford - and at Bedford you can't hit anything, if you spin off theres just loads of fields and run off areas so no chance of car damage.

Why don't you bring it along?

ps - not too clever betting logbooks/money on car racing is it?

Have I mentioned Fast and Furious before?

On a serious note, what spec is your turbo? Have you uprated your fuel pump? Can't be assed to go back and check.

How many times do I have to ask (I'm serious), what are the differences between the EVC and EVC PRO as I honestly don't know....
