Thumbs down

I'm amazed that youve been able to keep the tag this long.
It's disrespectful to the owners and moderators of this site.

Simon,

Don't let the tossers get you down.

I don't see anyone volunteering to write up the FAQs to be posted on the site.

Anyone want to volunteer ?

I'd be happy to, but I am sure there are others out there with much more knowledge than me.

Maybe if some people spent more time contributing and less time attention seeking SN would live up to its full potential.

webmaster2, change your account name and stop arguing with Simon like a spoilt child. Simon has put years of sweat and untold money into this site and you have no right to complain about any request that comes from him. In all honesty I find your username confusing and misleading. Stop being a kid and act your (supposed) age.

Stepping off my soapbox now.

Andrew.

Wink

Perhaps if you didn;t have to spend your time dealing with stupid usernames then you would have time to do the search fix Simon?

Webmaster (the original) I never said the request is not polite. that suggestion is rude!

I appreciate that you have problems with people asking about my status, but until today nobody request my name to be changed and I have being registered for over a month.

I however do apologise to others for my insults, but I think it is about time the other regulars realised that I am a regular, you know that, I know that, they know that.

Can't I just be left alone? Please (Polite asking)

I don't intend to tell either 'side' what to do but thought I had to express my views. I'm not great with computers at all but I do know there are quite a few people who find the net and things pretty tough to get hold of - it therefore seems reasonable that you and I should help those not so experienced in SN etc as much as we can. Names that even verge on being confusing are not really helpful - I think the actual Webmaster shares this thought. As this is a website primarily to chat with others about cars starting 2 Threads literally about whether you should follow the instructions of the Webmaster seems a bit OTT. I kinda think of myself as a guest on this site - if I was sent 1 email from a moderator, let alone the Webmaster asking me to do something I would do it. Full stop. Maybe I'm living in a different world but it is only a name - surely it can't be worth annoying one, let alone several memebers with?

I have already written a contribution for a section of the Drivetrain FAQ. See the thread in Drivetrain and do your bit if you feel able.

Angry

Webmaster2

Your attitude is unbelievable.
In fact the only thing I find more unbelievable is Simon's tolerance of your childish stubborness.

He has asked you privately, and now publicly, with explanation of his reasoning. Why do you persist in refusing his perfectly simple request ??

Webmaster/Webmaster./Webmaster2. or whatever. Yes confusing isn`t it, Why don`t you just change your username, if only to prevent confusion and to prevent this type of non productive thread, afterall it does no one any good in the end and only results in insults being bandied back and forth. End result: Everyone ends up frustrated and angry, Outcome gained nill.
Just an opinion.

Exclamation

What can i say.

I never contribute to this kind of "debate" on this BBS because it generally encourages more "debate" that goes round in circles.

Moderators like myself take pride in the fact that we have built a comunity, and i use that term deliberately, that has prospered with plenty of fun, informative subjects and advice.

The users of this BBS have on the whole been a major part of making this place special, a place where people can comunicate in a mature manner.

I have very, very rarely had to edit or delete threads in the forums i moderate because people respect the purpose of the forums and see they are a valuable resource that everyone can benefit from. As moderators we try very hard not to delete or modyfy threads, if we do we have done it for a good reason and we have thought about it.

Simon isnt going to say this himself because he is a modest guy but he has put £1000's into keeping this site up and running and has invested money to ensure the BBS could function as the hit rate increased. He did this at a time when the revenue recieved from the banner adds was much much smaller than the costs of running the BBS. Efectively he paid out of his own pocket to enable you to have somewhere to comunicate and share ideas and experiences.

Anyone who questions a simple request or plain and simple refuses to act in a mature and responsible manner should understand that they are throwing all the sacrifices Simon made for you in his face. How would that make you feel?

Dont forget this is a free service with 1000's of people who understand it's value. The rules of this BBS are very limited, it's not a lot to ask for you to show some thought for others using this BBS and it's disrespectful to the people who have helped build this comunity if you ignore simple, fair requests for cooperation.

Simon has been far more tolerant than i personally would have been.

Right now, with the help of the comunity i am building an FAQ area in drivetrain so everyone can benefit from years of contributions from BBS members. I hope you all find it useful.

Please change your username, you have been asked by people who you should respect to do that. You should not need a reason, being asked should be enough. Please do not register another, similar name either as it does confuse others and it is disrespectful.

Please do not post in my forums under that username or a name like it. It's a simple request.

Thankyou.
john
