Yeah its nice to do to be honest guys. I do strangely enjoy it, even if it is a bit of a busmans holiday.
Really liking how its turning out. Cant wait to get the motor dropped back in the bay

I started to fit the engine loom the other night and it wasnt long before i thought how awful it makes the engine look. Subaru made a right shambles of a job when creating a nice routing for it.

So not happy with it making my motor look horrid, i decided to completely unpick the whole loom and reroute sections, lengthene sections and shorten others.

Its not a pretty job

You're not wrong there, I've always thought it's a mess. And there's a few places where parts of the loom have silly tight bends ( eg injectors and the avcs solenoids)

I was thinking exactly the same when refitting the 'hard' water pipe. Not as brave as you though!

I know guys, its a royal pain in the ***. I wish i had the kit to make up a full millitary spec loom but thats just not the case.

All im hoping to do is make it a tiny bit neater. We'll see what we end up with?

Could you get a new loom with the syvecs which although more work could be neater and save you cutting the old one about?

What else is left to get once the loom is done?

Paying out for a military spec loom just because i dont like the way my one looks isnt in my budget im afraid Matt.
I'm trying to do as much as i can myself to reduce cost. The build is stretching me to my limits as it is.

They're a bit costly then? Out of interest how much would one be?

What you've spent will all be worth it when you're back on the road.

Brilliant build thread from start to finish!!!

Sorry kinda off the topic question, ive recently found one identical to yours from a subaru dealership, is £7995 to mush do you think? 42k looks mint, and id imagine it was a good one if they were selling it on rather than sending it to the auctions...

Also when are the cambelts due on these? Miles and years?

Cheers, keep up the amazing work!

£8k seems (unfortunately for me) the going rate for one of these in reasonable spec these days.

Not 100% sure on cambelts intervals as all my stuff has been changed just because and not when is required. Ive changed the oil in the thing every 3k miles regardless and gave it a cambelt/tensioner at 25k miles.

there is another, again a trader with 54k for a grand less at £6995, maybe ring them and see what history it has, just seems alot a grand for 1000miles less.

As you know I enlisted the help of my friend Ian to modify my foglamp covers to intake ducts. Well he did a super job of those and today he brought me another gift.

He has made me a duct to fit my 19 row setrab oil cooler. This is a tight fit over my oil cooler and will force feed the core from one of the foglamp cover ducts.
This will now be mocked up in place and then i can cut a hole in the front (square section)to run a hose into the duct from the ram-air ports at the front of the car.

He even managed to form it from some funky carbon effect plastic. Cheers fella, youre a star.

And as for the engine harness, well i decided it was awful in stock form so heres how it looks right now. lol. Im spiral wrapping all take offs and then sleeving them.
Looks horrid at the moment but i have faith it will look pretty neat once complete

Lol, i appreciate the words Jag, but i wont be anywhere near the 700bhp club like yourself. I'll be the one needing all the help i can get. The results your car has made are staggering. Congrats on the 10.8 mate.

Feel free to get in touch if you need stuff like that done. I have a few good contacts

Right i finally got time to have a look on here.....Looking real good Frayz, cant believe you have started on the engine loom LOL.

That ABS plastic looks the nuts mucker.....you need to ensure you vent out the incoming air too mate...possible look at the arch liner for the exit point?

It you really want to make the oil cooler work well, then rotating it so the exit would come out the side of the bumper would work better than just putting some vent holes (or whatever) in the arch liner.

Agree 100% Paul, but my car is a 99% road car and i really dont want to start chopping the body about.
I was actually going to put the holes exiting the underside of the car as this is a low pressure area and would help extract the hot air from the cooler.
