Love it , I WANT ONE. Did you polish the housing yourself or did it come like that?

Really cant believe how light this is compared to the stock housing turbos. Lets hope it works aswell as it looks. Taking it to Neil @ Thermal Logic on Sat for some pipeage.

Kid in a sweet shop

Frayz, are u adding extra supports to the turbo when fitted (most rotated kits have a extra bracket fixed to the block to pick up on the flanges for extra support)? or do you think its light enough for the headers/uppipe to support the turbo?

Dave, I paid extra to have it polished when I bought it. The turbo is daft light, I actually can't get my head around it just yet. Its weird when you pick it up as you expect it to weigh a ton, and well... It just doesn't.
All pipework will be custom made and the uppipe will have a support bracket incorporated into the design. I would never hang a turbo unsupported.

Merv, yeah mate get one. You know you wanna.

David Buschur has done a lot of testing on the Tial housing. The internals are identical to the Garrett except for the far superior surface finish on the stainless Tial housing.
The syainless housing has a much thinner wall thickness due to the high quality casting and that's where it gains its biggest weight saving.
I'm really hoping for big things from it. We shall see.

Is there any reason why you always double post Frayz? Besides trying to increase your post count

It's a known issue with some pc setups and scoobynet at the moment. Not something he's doing deliberately.

Very well priced actually Peter. I took advantage of an offer on by GT3 Turbo. They were doing free upgrades to the Tial housing at the moment which is normally a £400 option.
The v-band flanges and claps are extra though. Including the ported and polished compressor housing the whole lot came in at £1180 delivered.

I'm really confident that the Tial housing works well and have done as much digging around about it as possible. I guess I just had to take the plunge.
I obviously did think about the billet SC 35R. But from what I've seen the billet wheels only really start to make a difference at 1.8 bar+ boost levels.
And I did not feel the difference was worth the extra money. Internally this housing is identical to the Garrett so should do 600+bhp. That's plenty enough for me should I ever even get near it!

The weight difference is huge and the housing is really clean and won't rust. So winner all round really for the price.

I can't wait to see the pipes that Neil is going to make for it

Yeah I did pop in and see Paul. Not been to Zen before, but they seem to have very nice professional looking premises.

Nice to see a few friendly faces there too. Neil was also a very nice, friendly chap and his work looks very nice indeed. No wonder RCM used Neils manifold and rotated pipe setup on the Gobstopper.

Just read through this whole thread mate, started a build on mine now... about 4 years overdue!

Funny, I was given Ben@ Hel performance details yesterday about our brake calipers ... The guys at total impreza tell me they make very good brake lines, will have to get in touch soon .

Keep up the good work mate, if you are in town come and polish my heads for me

Frayz,

You shouldn't have oil temp issues with the Setrab cooler as it looks bigger than mines.
