It's going to get very cramped for your rear passangers!

Looking good, I do love a good cage and this is built to perfection.

In for a penny, in for a pound.

In the beginning my idea started out as a basic cage, then...

Well,

You know how these things go.

Usually because in a competition car the passenger/navigators seat sits lower and further back to the driver

Ahhhhh yes. That would explain why I've never noticed it on 'track' cars (if you know what I mean)

Ref the Swan neck Hans bar:

The swan neck is there as it allows the driver and passenger Hans bar to be at differing heights but using only one bar. FIA regs also state that harness may only be connected to no smaller than 38.1mm dia T45. If it were in sections then the centre cross would also have to be made in 38.1mm too as the Hans bars would fix to this. As you can see, my centre cross is only 25mm dia and this is able to be done by the fact that the harness are connected to 38.1mm. This reduces weight where allowed. Its been built to drawing which means it will also get a Homologation number. This means the shell can be easily log booked and used for competition.

The cage is an almost exact replica of the Prodrive designed and built item in a WRC S12B

Looks fantastic that mate, though getting in and out of it looks as though it could be fun! I thought the access into my Exige was tricky, Lol.

Here they are.

S12B WRC items, and yes they're all made from one piece of metal.
The most beautiful a pillar gussets you'll ever see, they wrap around the tube as well as run back and forth.

They get stitched in the whole length.
They take hours to make, but they're beautiful.

570 mile round trip to see Dave at DM Motorsport today and catch up with the fabrication work on my old shed. I have to say, the photos really don't do his work justice. In the metal it looks even more bonkers than I knew it would be.
Also picked up my carbon doorcards and discussed the rest of the items to be done.

I can't wait to see her in paint.
