It will have to be sealed where any welding has penetrated through.

Frayz the Cage has been beautifully made and is a work of art.

When I have seen photos of Cages being fitted to cars before, the roof skin has been removed so the top parts of the Cage that meet the roof can be welded all the way around and there is better access to paint the Cage.

I was wondering how DM Motorsport have managed to get complete welds around the top parts of the Cage ?

If you look further back you will see that the cage was dropped to get to the top sections.
You'll see the rear feet go onto the upper section of the rear seat bench. It was dropped off of these upper sections to allow the top pieces to be got at.
Dave did those upper pieces early on, the rest of the cage can be fully welded in situe. The S12b design actually has the roof bars sat slightly lower in the roof than most (just the way they were designed by Prodrive) do this allows even more access.

Most others are either dropped though the floor or as you say, the roof comes off.

Post #2598 shows a couple of images where you can see the cage was dropped to get to the top of the main hoop.

Cheers Jacob, hopefully it's getting there. Mine has taken a back seat this week as some real rally cars needed working on. Hopefully mine will be back on next week.

I reckon the whole of the interior, floor, roof, cage, belts the lot, gonna need some serious shades in there now

Ha, looking forward to it. I do have a hunch of how I think you are going to do the interior (which doesn't include dayglo orange) so am eagerly awaiting the updates to see if I am right

Hmmm, some of that may have some truth to it.
All I'll say is, it will be different to how it is now.

That cage is a serious work of art!
Stunning!
I think it's going to have a bit of Porsche GT3 RS colour theme to it inside
