He's gone a bit quiet for me too, I suspect he's in Vietnam and may not have a Blackberry email service

I'll keep trying

I do know that Bob is spending quite a bit of time outside of the country at the moment, so may be a little more incommunicado than usual. Stick with it- he will get back to you and the results will be worth the effort!

Please can you all confirm that you are still in the GB and whether you've managed to contact Bob to pay the deposits?

Many thanks,

Rich.

p.s. apologies but I don't have internet access away from work at the moment due to moving house, so I'm a bit slow responding to this post.

I have called and left an answerphone message for Bob to give me a call, as soon as I have spoken to him and paid the deposit I will post it onto the thread.

Spoke to Bob this evening and paid my deposit over the telephone, I left a message last night on his mobile and he called me back. What a top bloke and very helpful , I cannot wait to get the car re-mapped.

Has a location been decided on yet? If not I might have a location in mind just off the A470 north of Cardiff close to Pontypridd ( 5 minutes from the M4 and 1 minute from the A470, should be ok for road testing the cars ), I will do some checking and advise in due course.

Hi all posters, please be patient with me as I am new to all this remappng. I have a 03 blobeye wrx which is standard apart from a racebox backbox. I would like more power but need to know if a remap without mods is any use? I am looking into decat etc but dont want hassle at MOT time. What type of system with a panel filter would pass an MOT and also give me more bhp from the remap. Hope you can see what I am trying to get at. I am from the midlands so Swindon approx 1 hour for me need answers asap to organise my mods and deposit for the remap. Thanx in advance...

it all depends on your budget obviously decat is better (you need to find a friendly mot tester) if not go sports cat,

My car at the moment is running full decat 3 inch turbo back and i wanna get a set of headers also before this remap to maximize the gains from the map

Like i said it all depends on budget mate

cheers m8, budget is picking up a used centre and downpipe as I have a racebox backbox. Prefer a sportscat as knowing my luck at MOT time it will be a pain. Maybe with the time looming I am a bit optomistic as I am new to it all but you never now....

I have gone for decat uppipe, ppp sportscat down pipe and centrre decat, de res H&S centre section, PPP backbox, green panel filter, Walbro pump and a Prodrive intercooler Y pipe. Think this is about the best spec to get the most from a remap and pass an MOT easily ( hopefully), Just undecided if it will give me what I am after so am looking into other options before I pay for a remap as only want to do it the once.

I had mine mapped on Saturday and **** me, what a difference. Bob's a top bloke too and offered plenty of information and advice to me.

For those of you paying deposits, please do so this week and preferably by Friday. He asked for you to phone between 9pm and 10pm so that he is able to pick up your call, or alternatively leave a VM and he'll call you back.

Looks like we are getting somewhere. Do we need everyone to pay before we can confirm dates? As I understand we are looking at 10th and 17th May?

I may well be up for this - I have a VF35 arriving this week hopefully and uprated fuel pump arrived this morning.

Already have the licence from previous Powerstation remap.

So 17th May would be good for me, I can't do the 10th.

He takes credit cards I take it?

The people for the 17th - where do you think this is going to be? Closer to Bridgend the better for me, the only reason I don't really want to go back to Powerstation is it's a fair trek on a unmapped bigger turbo.

Earlier on in the thread Cardiff was mentioned - is that for the 10th or for both?

My suggestion would be to go to Bob and have it done because a) he's got all his stuff there for hooking up all the electronic gadets and b) there's a suitable combination of roads to do the mapping.

That said he doesn't have an issue with travelling to you but you do need a good bit of road with no camera's, blues-and-two's, etc because of the way the car mapping process works on the road.

The A48/A48M would probably be a reasonable road but something a bit quieter/private would be better. I don't know the area around Bridgend/cardiff that well so can't help to much, but a dual carraigeway is needed really............

p.s. yes he takes cards

Makes sense about going to him but I was hoping for nearer than Powerstation in Tewkesbury. Bob is in Swindon isn't he? About the same distance.

Which is why Cardiff/Pontypridd would be much more appealing?

If needed I can provide a suitable site ( permission from work pending ) which is 1 minute from the a470 and 5 miles from the m4, if enough are interested and Bob is ok with it I will approach my boss.

How much would the mapping be for this car: 1998 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX TYPE R V-LIMITED RA

Its never had any mapping done since coming in to the country.

Would the only option be the Simtek ECU... £920??

And sorry to be dumb, but whats "ALS" as it says with or without this?

That sounds much better for me - I'd be up for that at least
