Which dealers where these, the one's from never never land or the one's with the tin man and the scarecrow. I'll will personally give you £1000 in cash if you can point me in the direction of a dealer offering P1's for £24K.

If anyone decides to buy a P1, (I have) then dont expect to recoup any money back from the extras, 18" wheels, Recaro seats, Alcon Breaks, etc. cause you wont. I have bought a new car as standard, and it will remain that way, unless I decide to keep the car for 3-4 years.

I looked at switching at the end of last year (Oct 2000) , best offer to change was £12,600 , based on trading in my MY00 'V' plate 10000 mile 4 door dbm UK turbo.

In the end I just didn't think the P1 was that much better.

So I went for Prodrive Performance Pack on my existing car , same torque as P1, same exhaust as P1, slightly less power ( 20 bhp?? )but only costs 2000 squids.

Try a PPP car!

Get the P1, and you'll have a classis Scoob that many a person will be envious of. Just turn the ignition and you'll smile, put your foot down and you'll smile harder......

Martin

I've had a P1 since June last year, and IMHO it's the best all-round fast, safe, practical car for anything like sensible money. That doesn't mean it's better value than the standard car - it isn't. But in absolute terms it's the business. You'll need to do the brakes cos they're not up to the job, and it understeers a surpriding amount in the wet, but overall it still gets me up at 6am on a Sunday just to go for a drive.

Don't buy it if you're going to change it in a year - the depreciation will kill you. It's possible that in a few years they'll be the classic Scooby, like the old BMW M3, but don't hold your breath. Don't expect to get anything back for any mods you do to your current car, or the MY01 either.

I agree about the demonstrators - I wouldn't buy one.

Yes you just slot the stereo in - speakers are in place & they're a bit better than the std car.

Super unleaded only (except emergencies)

Do it & try to forget the money!

Why won't any of you lot buy a demonstrator from a dealer??

Is it because you think it has been thrashed around the countryside by lunatics (or even worse, around a race track!!!)????

What about when you take your cars onto the track at a track day?? (obviously I am not saying you all do, but some do...) What difference does that make? You will then try and sell the car to a dealer after having thrashed it round Donno and STILL expect top price for it.

A little bit of hypocrasy perhaps?

I know for a fact that the dealers take GREAT care of their demo cars, probably better than anyone else at a track day (or just as a demo vehicle) as they are FULLY serviced and checked before AND after each day.

It also now has the new full exhaust system.[/quote]

Could you e-Mail me what a ball park retail cost could be for these items and when they might be available to the scooby public?

RobMac,

Dealers trackdays are another matter - mainly it's the fact that the demo cars have been thrashed from day one, and not allowed to warm up and cool down properly. As I've said before, I've seen scoobs and other marques red-lined from cold with only 20 miles on the clock, and that CANNOT be good for a new engine full of thin running-in oil.

princess test drove a brand new evo 6 on sunday, only 100 miles on the clock. she redlined it at every opportunity, got up to 140mph (dealers head was in his hands!)
no way would i buy a demo, especially after she's been in it!

Redlining a brand new car IS a different matter, and I agree thar it will not do the car much good.

But, I have it on good authority that it is OK after about 800 miles until the 1st oil change, which seems to loosen the engine off nicely...

Unhappy

I'm sure your all desperate to know what I've decided

I've turned the P1 for 15K offer down

Dealer would have sold the brand-new P1 for 29.5K cash, but offered me a swap price of 15K - and I reckon I should be able to sell a 13mth old UK MY00(V) for a bit more than 14.5K...and any excess is in my pocket, not his

Anyway, there was a family circumstance I didn't let on about - our oldest is 17 in April and wants to drive asap (chip off the old block, eh ).

He can't drive my company 328 (sorry) or the wife's Impreza and we don't really want three cars. The latest plan is to sell the Impreza in May or so, get a 206/Focus or something for the wife and boy, get rid of the company car in April 2002 (far too much tax liability!) and come back into the market for either a s/h P1 (or a new one for 22K if they still can't sell them!) or a new WRX with whatever decent power/looks mods are around then

But if anyone wants to p/ex something suitable for wife and boy (2 yrs old or so)plus cash, right now or in the next few months, for a silver UK scoob, FSSH, SS backbox and Sony ICE then e-mail me plse at milleners_alternate@hotmail.com

BTW the P1 was wonderful on the test drive. I still want one really!
