Its not totally about inconveniencing a disabled person, they aren't generally that delicate and if they can get from a space next to the door then one a bit further away wont kill them, depending on the nature of their disability, I find disabled people are resourceful and determined due to the fate dealt them, more so than those that use the spaces without a qualifying impediment, I personally can't do it, i have more self respect and don't want anyone i know thinking that I am that kind of bloke, I associate it with self obsessed, selfish, fat, lazy alpha male types and a similar breed of obnoxious Range Rover driving Orange woman that seems to do it round here, I tend to park further away to avoid muppets dinging my car anyway. Its almost like the disabled places are a test for twattiness by psychologists, there does seem to be a type, prestige car, private plate, do the Disabled bay parkers feel somehow superior to the rest of us, is it a drive to win, to take whatever advantages regardless of other peoples opinions.
If I were ill or injured for any reason I would use one if I could justify it to myself as being acceptable, not just to get an advantage over more considerate people who do not use them, its not just a f*ck you to the disabled it makes you look a **** to the rest of the population, I get the impression that the same people that do this are the ones that will quite happily launch a finished McDonalds meal for four's worth of wrappings out of a moving vehicle, usually they don't look like the type that would react well to anyone challenging their parking, there is usually a slightly guilty but dont you dare say anything look on their faces.
I don't want to upset anyone but its my opinion, I am surprised people do it and actually admit to it.
I got told off at work for Parking in a Disabled bay, this woman came and started ranting at me, I simply walked off, got my mates wheelchair and got him out of the car, took him inside and then moved my car
her face was priceless but fair play to her for saying something.
