I'm still torn. Need to play with the 8900 and 9000 really.
8900 - Small, decent camera, no 3G, wifi, qwerty
9000 - Larger, poor camera, 3G, wifi, qwerty,
9500 - Larger, decent camera, 3G, No wifi, no qwerty as such.
I have sausage fingers so scared of the 8900...Arrgghhh might just wait a few months and see what happens!

I've got huge hands, but have no trouble with the 8900 keyboard, but you have to be kind of dexterous in the first place.
A word of warning for anybody thinking of getting the 8900 on Voda, I don't think Voda support Edge in the UK, so you won't get great web browsing speeds and sending large files via email is quite slow.
I mostly browse the BBC PDA website and GPRS is fine for that site and pages load in just a second or two even with images.

Well,
Just ordered an i phone as an o2 updrade. SE X1 not available.
btw - I have a blackberry for work (on third different model now) and each one has had reliability issues. Would never have one as a personal phone, although there is no doubt the email functionality is superb (hence the reason for having one as a work phone)

I would go 8900. As for the keypad, I dont exactly have little fingers, and I manage fine with it. Bit tricky first off, but after a day or so, your flying.

Reliability issues? I thought one of BB's massive selling points was being quite the opposite of that? What sort of issues have you had?

Loving my Blackberry Bold at the minute. Very easy to use after adapting from an old Nokia. Web Browsing is pretty quick and all websites seem to be supported.

No worries mate
Mine is on Orange, and I get EDGE, not sure about Voda, worth looking into. Cant see why they would not support it. Its the phone capability, and I was under the impression (prob wrong) that EDGE ran on the same infastructure as 3G, but was the lower rate used by non 3G phones.
Even on GPRS, most sites load within a reasonable amount of time. Scoobynet takes about 10 seconds including all images.
Oh, Semper.... as for finger size..These fingers manage fine on the keyboard, see below lol. (3 rows covered by finger.)

Taken from Voda UK website
Oh and for the record... the 9500, heavy cumbersom, and impossible to compare to the Curves and Bold IMO

One of the lads here has the storm, with the updated software etc he quite likes it. He's never had a BB before, so can't compare obviously. I don't know, it'd just be a new toy to me. Maybe the iPhone is the way to go...

Stop saying that word lol.
Depends what you want mate. Mobile media, iPhone,... ease of use and practical, BB.
I know which I would choose lol. Didnt like the iPhone from the first time I picked one up. But then I tend not to like touchscreen phones.
Good luck in your decision, and if you have any more BB questions, I can try and help with my limited knowledge.

Well iPhone is up and running, I'm posting this message from it now and so far it seems a fantastic piece of kit. Stocks apps seems good, it updates my preferred stocks and gives me a graph. So far so good!

Snazy,
Examples:
Intermittent ring failure, hanging for ages, message alert issues, intermittent track ball failure (on 4 machines I know about in the office) sync issues.
Ok, as work tools they get a lot of use, but that's what they are sold as.
Not overly impressed. They are, for us, effectively disposable. We keep a stock of them!

I know it took me a while to get the profiles set up to work in all conditions, setting up in pouch and out of pouch is a pain lol. Sometimes too close to the case so it would act as it was IN the case, so would not ring as that profile was set NOT to ring in case.
DS, good on ya mate, glad its working out for you

Well I take that back. It's already crashed. Whenever I make a call the screen goes blank and touching the screen or pressing the main button doesn't fix it. I have to try and switch it off to remedy it
Not best pleased I must say, I'm returning it asap and they will give me a new one.
Just worried now that I've bought an unreliable phone..,,

Had three, all failed within a few months. Got a HTC phone now, way more powerful than the iPhone and working reliably so far.

The iBubble has burst.
Hope a replacement sorts it mate.
Should have bought the 8900
Must say though, the HTC I had was cooooooool If I was getting a touch phone it would be an HTC again. But either way, whatever you choose, good luck getting a reliable phone.
I have to say though, even if you walked into an O2 retailer looking for a charger, their "unbiased" sales people would try and convince you to walk out with an iPhone.

Or does it switch on and off when you use the browser?
I know on my other phone I usually leave the 3G turned off as its of no benefit to me on there.
You would thing the default brighness settings etc would be in favour of saving the battery for new users? Although my friends new 8900 was set up for 100% everything... soon sorted that out lol.

Not stuffed at all mate, all new contracts have a cooling off period. O2 is 14 days I believe. If the battery is gonna let you down even on a good unit, walk back in, return it all, and rethink your options. BEFORE the cooling off ends.
HTC Touch HD or BB 8900 next I would say.

It was an upgrade, but on a new 18 month contract. Do I still get the 14 day cooling off period?
I've got a 28 day faulty exchange clause though, so they have agreed to give me a new one. If the new one has any kind of fault at all, then I'm really not keen to persevere with the iphone.
What are my options?
Thanks

yes mate, all contracts legally require a cooling off period, and for O2 upgrades I believe it is 14 days. A friends recently most certainly was.
Personally I would say make the decision early. Dont take a replacement if you are in any mind that you might just want to return it lock stock and barrell.
Think it over and commit to one or the other.
You know what I would do, but the rest is up to you.

As far as I'm aware, the upgrade route changes the 14 day cooling off thing. Will do some checking.
EDIT - eg http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...se-14-day.html

If I were to have the phone insured then the phone then be unlucky enough to get lost/stolen, can I ask for any phone up the same value or will they insist on giving me the same phone?

You have got to be kidding me?
When I upgrade I get 7 days to change my mind.
A friend recently decided to try a BB, but was unsure if she would like it, and was given 14 days by O2.
That is complete rubbish, and if true, needs sorting out.
Sorry to hear you appear to have been screwed.

Reading on that it makes a grim statement really
Surely you can reject the phone as not fit for purpose. Sadly I think that would only give you a replacement though I guess.
Insurance will usually replace like for like mate.

I'm afraid to say you are right. No cooling off period for products bought in the shop. When I spoke to the shop today, they were saying that they wouldn't even let me swap the iphone for another phone whilst retaining the same contract.

I would go back to the store and change for a bold or 8900, if they refuse I would have a word with CAB. I remember years ago I had a siilar problem with a motorola, the retailer would not change so I went in every couple of days and said the phone was broken (crashing etc) and in the end they were delighted to give me what I wanted as they were sick of the site of me.
Iphones are a great concept but full of issues.
