XRS,
I do not believe the issue of missing buttons/icons is anything to do with what level of membership you have.
As for what ones are missing, it seems to vary, but, for me, I initially didn't see RTM, User Offline (the white little V) and User Online (the little blue V). I then noticed that I didn't have the Post Reply button, but I'd been using the Quick Reply box, so that's probably why I didn't notice that one.
There are two/three icons that have gone due to being removed, they are the thumbs up and thumbs down for rating posts and the instant ban red X, so we can ignore those being missing.
Right now, I am missing the RTM button and the Online/Offline User buttons, but I do have a post reply button.
What I have found is the following; If I open the direct urls to the icons (see below) in the following order, then I can see each one in the separate page I load, plus if I go to the forum I'll see them. This will sometimes, but not always, persist until I quit and relaunch the browser. If I load the icons in any other order than the one below, then apart from the User Online icon, I tend not to see the others (In my testing I've cleared history and cache, and quit and launched my browser and right now I only see the little white V icon, RTM, and Post Reply aren't visible)
So, clear your cache, quit and relaunch your browser and try opening the following urls, in order, in new windows, and see if they load the icons:
Stu,
A quick question for you. I've had a quick look at passionford, and the icons there are loading ok for me (at the moment) and they seem to be served from the same server as SN, and I'm guessing there could well be other servers in the IB group that serve icons from this server. Obviously the path to the icons is different and from what I can see, PF is using the default vB style, whereas we're not.
Does SN still have the original default vB style, or is it the style that has been customized?
I ask as if the original does exist, would it be possible to enable it, just for testing purposes, possibly only to those who are seeing these issues, so we can see if the default icon set loads, as I'm guessing/hoping that the new icons would be in a style specific folder, rather than having been replaced wholesale/

I'm a geek, what can I say Plus the fact I am in tech support and thus I'm used to trying to track down obscure problems
The post rating thing was nice, but seems some got a little hot under the collar when their posts were negatively rated, so they are no doubt happy it is gone. I do miss Instant Ban as I thought it a very handy feature to have, saves having to RTM a post (well if I have the icon that is ) as you can instant ban it and leave the mods alone.

I did the cache clear/reboot/www.scoobynet.com thing and i can now see all of the icons
Now then, how do we go about getting back the buttons that have been taken away? I am sure they were part of the Orange Club priviledges, and like you, I have used the instant ban button to rid the site of spammers and the like. Never used the infraction button though
I've just noticed - the mood thingy has gone too - was this intended?

XRS,
I think some of the things have gone away as they were causing problems with the forum software. Basically, the "mood" thing and other items modify the template/style of the forum, and some were causing slow downs, due to how they worked, so they were removed, it's also possible they may not have been compatible with the new version of the software, and again, were removed.
I think that anything that was "custom" has been removed/disabled for the time being, and when the main big issues have been dealt with, I'd guess these will be looked at.

Cache clear twice in Firefox 3.1 beta 2 seems to of fixed it, it survived a reboot. I'd already tried that just after the upgrade. Weird. Still not working in Internet Exploder 8 RC1, but I only use that when I'm desperate.

Half the problem, is we now dont know what we should have or shouldnt have with buttons LOL
remember we had furl and ploog and rate and un-rate rtm instaban etc
(ok i made the ploog one up ) but can you see where i,m comming from.
were over a week into the "new" & improved board, and its still not fixed...
I keep saying where / what the problem is, and the previous fix yet no one seems to
bother..

I'm not sure if this will help any, but here is the activity log from Safari when loading this thread. The interesting part is where the right hand column lists "not found" for various items, which are the buttons/icons that are not displaying

How are the people it is working for accessing the forums. By that I mean, do they type in the address, if so, what are they typing, or do they access a bookmark/favorite. If so, what does that actually link to? Is it to www.scoobynet.com or bbs.scoobynet.com?
If it's www, then how do they get to the forums/threa, do they click "Subaru Forum" from the Site Navigation link and then pick their forum from the list, or do they select it from the "Subaru Forums" option at the top of the page
If it's bbs, then again, how do they get to the forums/thread?
In my situation, I have bookmarks to most of the forums, for example, to NSR. When I access the site I typically just select one of these bookmarks, thus directly going to the forum in question, and thus not touching the main sites of www or bbs.
I'm aware that the method outlined to address various issues is to logout, clear cache, cookies, and access via www. Perhaps this is why some of us have problems, we have direct links, whereas others will go to the www or bbs page and click through to the various things. It could be that using a direct link is not allowing something to be cached/updated, maybe cookie or session information?

bbs.scoobynet.com for me (directly typed in address bar)
I have however just logged on via teh top result in google from a works PC and now have no RTM or online icons. Multiple Ctrl+F5 didn't work
Opened a new window and typed bbs.scoobynet.com straight into the address bar, and the icons are back.
Weird.

Looks like it's working here as well. I've had a look at my activity window and I don't see any items listed as "not found". I do notice the path to the images has changed, the "get" portion of the path no longer being present, so I presume this had something to do with the issue?

And???
what's that supposed to mean?
as per post #40
what buttons are we supposed to have?
a screen shot would be nice
I arrive via the bbs/ xxxxx link, but as we dont actually know what
buttons are supposed to be there or not, how can we update on the
situation..??
Mart..
and when are you going to sort the page formatting out.

PONG
you still haven't told us what buttons we should have!!!!!
and why despite 2 previous posts about the page loading issues is it still
doing it? This occurred before, at Simon's last "must have" upgrade
and as ive said twice before, if i recall, it was due to "your end" dictating
what we at this end got to see.
Once "your end" finally stopped playing BB and allowed "our end" to have
the screen settings relaxed to allow "our end" to change it, to how we
wanted it, the page load & formatting problems. dissapeared.
(someone had a romantic notion that centre justified on a 15" monitor was the must have that everyone wanted, (because it looked good / worked on his setup)
IF as you say its not your end.
why do any of the other V bulletin based boards i use not have the same
problems?

I don't know about anyone else Mart, but I'm certainly struggling to make any sense of what you're typing. Can you try and make yourself a little clearer (and perhaps a little less condescending? )
Now, with regards to buttons, yours should look something like this:
With regards to anything else I have no idea what you are trying to say, please clarify.

It would appear that asking for a screen dump, of what buttons should be
there is condescending lol, given that the buttons/ icons change with
more regularity that a dose of senna pod, i have to laugh..
Anyway, why am i hacked off with the supposed fixed board..
Pic 1 this is what i get on startup..
Looks ok, but is it? i still don't know what buttons i should have
note the lovely centralised page, (looks cack on a 22" monitor")
Then i got to another thread...
and get this
No borders lol, but no stopping...
And at post number 1 in the said thread in question, it was neatly centred lol
Ok ...
So we try changing options to fix the centralisation
this is Fixed centre
This is fixed left
now i dont know about you, but there is no difference
and to round it up, this is full screen
IMG]http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b30/mart360/screendFL.jpg[/IMG]
Absolutely no difference...
and this next shot is what i;ve been complaining about from post 1
this is what i get everytime i go to a new post or there is any form of
screen refresh its what we had last time when the "new and improved s/w"
was installed...
No other VB site does it, so why SN...
As ive said, if i recall it was down to the way "your end" decided what we
"would / could" see our end..
We were told it was down to us wanting to use anything bigger than a 15"
monitor, and tried to say thats what VB was set up for
