OK, so you're not a bible thumping, scripture preaching Christian. But you are a Christian who looks to the bible for something. That makes you a target to be challenged for those beliefs. It's nothing personal. It never was.
But why the hell come on a religious thread, make some comments about religion and promptly close up?
Why give your viewpoint(s) and then offer no avenue for someone to challenge?
Why go to all this trouble for nothing? All you've archived is a troll like stirring..
It was doomed to failure because it was one sided.... you allowed no discourse.
As for Blair and Bush... their 'shameful acts' as you say were tainted with religious piety.. We're going to be suffering from that religious tainting for quite some time.
It would be good to have received some opinion on my questions back to Lisa, but your kind words to Lisa (which I agree with) show the same old operating model of agree / disagree and then give no reason why!

If you want to know why I commented on this thread, it was because I was indicating that blaming terrorist acts etc on religion was wrong and that those problems are not due to the religions concerned but were in fact down to people who have their own agenda and are using a religion to manipulate the people involved. You might wish to include those two redoubtable leaders that were mentioned in that context by the way!
Secondly, why should a Christian immediately be a target for your attacks. What business is it of yours anyway? I did not ask for such a "discussion", in fact I tried to avoid it for the reasons I stated. What harm do Christians who follow their religion do anyway? They certainly don't deserve your insults and your manic preaching about Atheism. The word tolerance has been mentioned often enough!
I don't care if you want to follow a different creed to mine. I have deliberately avoided any kind of criticism about Atheism by the way. Just get on with it but don't start the nastiness with regard to what you think I believe. Quite unecessary and does not prove a thing! You have no right to treat me as a target, especially when I did not criticise what you hold to be true.
At the start I said that this country was a much better place to live in when it was largely Christian. It has certainly gone a long way downhill since then now that it has become so much more secular! People had a set of values to hang their hats on in those days.
I follow the Christian ideals as a way to lead my life as far as I can, but then no one is perfect of course. Do you see anything wrong in those ideals? Do you feel I should be criticised for following natural law and accepting the rules of common decency and honest behaviour? As I said, no one leads a perfect life, least of all me, but one can only try!
If I believe in trying to follow those rules and accept that set of values, and believe the possibility of an all powerful being, does that necessarily make me a full on Christian following a Christian religion with all its precepts however?
You should try to avoid making assumptions as I said earlier!
I reserve the right to believe what I want and to lead the life I prefer as long as I don't cause anyone any troubles by doing so, and I think it is fair not to have to put up with insults and undue criticism from others. I also have the right to defend myself from those insults etc. without being accused of trolling! I also don't have to prove anything anyway.
If you reply to this post, it would be good if you actually deal with what I have written rather than what you imagined I wrote as happened in previous posts.

Blimey this thread has gone off topic.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: people who simply MUST impose their atheist views on those who have identified themselves as religious are as misguided as those who identify themselves as religious and MUST impose their views on people who are atheist.
ALL religious denominations and belief systems are compatible if people abide by one principle which, unless I'm mistaken, even single recognised major religion advocates, and should also be self-evident to even the most hardened atheist: that of respect and tolerance for the fellow human and their views, even if you don't understand them.
Religion is just like science in one important respect: ideas are less important than what one does with them.
End of a very tired debate: can we get back to the whole muslim vs UK citizen thing now... Alternatively, can someone at least post some ***** as evidence that there is a god, or showcase the work of a plastic surgeon to highlight the work of science!

Nope. I'm dizzy from re-re-re-repeating myself.
NS04 - I'm afraid tolerance is partly to blame for putting us in this position and will continue to be abused by some; meaning it will get worse before it gets better.
But, as you say..... Time to move back on topic.

A cheerful story of childhood innocence and brainwashing!
Taliban's child suicide bombers unveiled - Yahoo! News UK
Could this happen in the UK, maybe the brainwashing already has...
"I asked: 'How would you feel about being a suicide bomber?' He said he knew he'd be in pieces. But he also knew the difference between suicide, which God forbade, and sacrifice, which is what you become if you blow yourself up, killing the non-Muslims who want to kill your family. 'Afterwards you would go straight to heaven, with 70 girls'.
"I suspect he didn't care too much about the girls. But when I asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up, he said: 'When I'm older I'll kill non-Muslims. If I don't, they'll come to our homes and kill us.'
"It's not clear what will happen to Abdullah but the officials are likely to simply send him back across the border to his religious school. He will have quite a tale to tell the other children as he strips and loads his Kalashnikov, ready to defend Islam."

Paul, I posted this before. I think you'll find it already has to a slightly lesser degree (I hope).
Of course, apologetics will claim it's all over hyped, false, Government lies etc etc...
Police identify 200 children as potential terrorists - Crime, UK - The Independent
