What a nightmare, but managed to get the sump done today... took me all day to do it, but i got there in the end!
It was a right pain in the ****, and have done something to my back being under the car all day lol...
Managed to get it off by jacking the engine up from underneath (managed to get an axle stand to push the engine up enough to get the CV bit up between the sub frame and sump.
Got the old one off with a bit of wiggling and swearing, but the new one didn't want go on with ease.. found taking the actual oil collector thingy off to get the new sump in, and then put it all back together holding the sump up.
Managed to get all the screws in but one at the back, could i hell find the hole for it, put loads of gasket sealant around it, so I don't think it'll leak...

Talk about leaving everything till last min... just been finishing off the little bits and bobs i needed to do before we go down to Japfest on Friday.... had the car started for a good while today, burnt off all the oil and wd40 i got on the headers (there was smoke everywhere) but rather burn it off now instead of having it smoking and maybe catching fire on track.
Just a couple of things left to do for tomorrow, door cards and fire extinguisher need to be fitted and a quick hoover and clean the windows then it should be ready to put on the trailer - hope it fits
Camo now done on both wings:
**My lass got her **** in the way**
And my new sponsor (well a company my lasses brother and I are setting up)

Right I'm sick of revising, so I'll post the report from the weekend.
So, Friday, early morning wake up call, collected van, came back home, collected trailer, back again and loaded the scoob on the trailer, and took it down to John Pye Motors in Bishop Auckland (they build rally cars, and had loads of impreza's in) - got them to 4 wheel laser align and corner weight the car.
So was around 1:00 before the car was finished, loaded on the trailer and started the 250+ miles on the way down to Castle Combe for Japfest.
On the way down, the trailer suffered a blow out (while overtaking a lorry), we were just on the A1 at Pontefract, and it was 4:00, so got on the iPhone and looked for a local tyre place to replace the blown tyre (didn't fancy travelling any further with no more spare). Found a Kwick Fit, pulled in and got them to check if they had a tyre in stock, none, but also got him to have a look at the other tyres, and they were all normal car tyres (they are supposed to be reinforced tyres - Didn't think about checking this myself as i purchased the trailer of a guy who transported cars from place to place as a living)
Anyway, Kwick Fit didnt have any tyres in stock for the trailer and couldnt get them till Monday, time was getting close as by this time it was 4:30, but the guy said i should try a place around the corner called Dougs Tyres in Castleford, and they were absolute life savers! They didn't have the tyres there, but had them in another garage down the road, so they went off and collected 4 new tyres for me, fitted them, and we went back on our way to Castle Combe - didn't arrive till gone 11:00, only to find out that I had forgotten the key that unlocks the scooby door (I had locked the door with the alarm remote, and then disconnected the battery while it was on the trailer)
So had to break into my own car with nothing more then a twig (dunno if i should post that on here like)
So after 5 min got in the car, and just left it unlocked on the trailer over night...
Another early morning wake up call on the Saturday, got everything sorted and headed from the Travel Lodge to Castle Combe, where we got messed about a bit with which gate i needed to go in to park (ended up getting put in the gate furthest away form where i needed to be)
Anyway, got all that sorted, and got the car on track, only to find that in 4th and 5th it over boosted like crazy, would only go to 5k revs and it was like hitting the rev limiter all the time... so off the track, and trying to figure out what exactly was going wrong, though it might have been the boost solenoid, and after a call to Harvey, he confirmed my suspicions.
So off I popped around the trade stalls for someone selling a manual boost controller, luckily I managed to find one and fitted it, and guestamated what to set it to and went back on track for my next session... and it didn't over boost this time, although I was a bit off with my guess for setting the controller as I only got 0.5bar boost (instead of 1.25 i should have set), but managed to keep up with everyone this time.
Then back on the road home with a new little list of things to do, but I have to say, the car handled mint! A little bit of over steer on the rear then grips and turns mint around corners (had a little bit of under steer, but I'm pointing at the crap tyres I was running on the front)
Croft in 2 weeks time, so need to get myself a electronic boost controller from Harvey and plumb that in ready for the weekender

Hey Jamz, can I ask you a quick question about your battery setup? Just wondering what size end fittings/eyelets you used to attach the cable to the battery? Whats ths 100amp switchy thing for? What gauge cable and length? Cheers... good luck with the next track day!

Gaz, i did pretty much exactly as this guide describes:
http://wgbuckley.com/projects/battery.html
The Eyelets, I got from work (halfords) they were the 4 guage ring terminals
As for the 100 amp switch, i wanted a way to isolate the battery while its locked up in the garage, and have the trickle charger plugged in.

What a weekend
First the problems.... well there was only one major problem this weekend (if some eagle eye people were reading the forum last night, you may have spotted my problem)... anyway... This problem happend all Saturday, the car was running, but was only boosting to 0.60 bar at the most, it was doing my head in, i checked everywhere for leaks in the system, even disconnected my new EBC and put in a manual one to see if that was the problem to no avail.
Sunday then came around, and while having a look over the car, my mate saw that the actuator rod had actually come off the waste gate pin (i never noticed this DOH) put the rod back on the car and WOOOSH, i had full boost again (1.15 bar max)
The only other problems i found..... Saturday it was rather hot out on track, and even hotter in the car (no blowers to cool you down - only windscreen blowers) so a roof vent may have to be my next purchase
Sunday once boost was fixed, there were two problems and this was down to the wet this time (was hoping for nice sunny weather gain, but my hopes were met with rain), i found out that i should get some proper racing wet slick tyres, as road tyres just didnt do, tried going around the corner and was met by a 4 wheel Ken Block style drift heading towards the fields lol
The other problem was the windows steaming up, just couldnt get the fans to clear the sides of the wind screen, and the steam just took over forcing me to the pits to clear them - have this bar of stuff that is supposed to stop windows and things steaming, so may try that on the window next time.
Anyway, loads of pictures and video footage this time, so I'm in the process of sorting all these out.
Just a couple I have found so far of me on the net:
Saturday:
Sunday
Had to be sharp on the brakes for this one:
Short drive by video clip I have just uploaded:

Well now that I have more time to post, I have been thinking about other bits I would like to do (after talking to a few of the lads from this weekend)
1. Polycarbonate Windows
2. Strip the doors down, removing all gubbins
3. Strip wiring loom down to only needed components
4. Race fuel tank, swirl pot, fuel pump
5. Strip and paint the underside, powder coating, and polly bush's
The above is probably what i will be doing this coming winter
I also need to find a roof vent (as it was bloody hot on Saturday and with no blowers i was sweating like hell), but on the other hand, it was pissing down all day Sunday, and the windows steamed up with the blowers on full (well on the side's where the driver and passenger sits) so couldnt see a thing after a few laps, do unsure how to sort that bit out

I can see the swirl pot and fuel pump, but I reckon a race fuel tank will just drive you nuts filling up all the time.
Plus, if you are going to all that effort, must be worth a blast in a comp/ race at some point?

Grant, my grand plan is to get a race licence and maybe enter time attack or something along those lines in the future.
Will be doing some track days first though, but want to make it light as possible now

Just a quick note to say this is not dead... When i get some time, i'll be making the car lighter:
-Remove AC
-Remove Heaters
-Replace windows with plexan
-Remove redundant wiring
-Remove content of inner doors
-Remove window mechanisms
-Fit Bonnet pins
-Remove standard bonnet catch + cable
-Plumb in catch can
Figure out where my coolant goes to after thrashing it out on track
Also remove alarm, and all cabling, keeping the bare minimum, fit safety cut off switch, and add fan/pump/ignition switches

Jamz!!!! Where have you been??!!.................... Not seen any movement on this thread for over a month!!
This winter I'll be going down the similar route...
Fitting a swirl pot + 2 bosch fuel pumps, replacing the rear windows with UV polycab, removing unwanted wiring and getting rid of the bonnet + boot mechanisims etc....
Keep us posted mate!! I'm away to update my thread..........it's been even longer since I posted on it.
Trav
P.S I know where your coolant will be going btw...........all over the track

Well I think i should bump this up as I have just booked myself on the Scooby Shoot Out @ Elvington in less then a month, and I have some things to do....
- Oil Change
- Oil Filter Change
- Fuel Filter Change
- Coolant Change
Just got myself some new oil from work, but forgot the filters and coolant doh, so will be doing this all next weekend methinks (as ive just got back off holiday and deserve a rest this weekend lol)
I dont think there is much else that i desperately need to do to the car for the day at Elvington, just need to maybe buy myself some new road tyres (as the one's i have on now are shocking and if it rains im screwed, but if its nice and hot, the slicks are going on)
