This is what it looked like when we picked it up 2 weeks ago from South Wales!

Beardy 06 July 2009 11:57 AM

Im currectly looking at getting another scoob for track use, how much did you pay for her?

Got anymore plans? engine wise?

Jamz_ 06 July 2009 02:27 PM

Oil cooler now fitted, piped in, and the engine is now fill of oil (one and a bit bottles of oil used :O)

@ Beardy:

I got this for 1500, from a lad down in Wales.

Nothing more planned for engine really, its got enough power for now (although i may fit a catch tank)

Current plan list:

- Heatwrap headers, up pipe and down pipe (try to get the heat away from the oil & engine)
- Roll Cage
- Another set of wheels (so i can have a slick set and a wet (road tyre) set)
- Full suspension setup (align wheels and geometry setup)
- Stip the car even more (remove front carpets, trims, door cards)

Need to look at the brake problems, will strip all the brakes down, clean and grease them back up (hopefully this will fix the locking up problem) if not, remove ABS and add brake bias kit.

I also managed to get a new gearbox for the car nice and cheap :D

And i think that may be it for more (till next track day where i find more problems lol)

Jamz_ 06 July 2009 02:34 PM

PS. just added track pictures above (should really keep this thread updated)

Beardy 08 July 2009 11:53 AM

1500 is a bargin for the figures you have got on the rollers :O

Thinking of painting my wheels black soon also, you did a top job on them :)

Jamz_ 08 July 2009 12:24 PM

Cheers, ive done quite a few little things like colour coding washer jets and door handles and they have gone well, the wheels and spoiler were the bigest things i had sprayed, and came out prefect (appart from one or two dust spots - but what can you expect as i was doing it in a garage)

Jamz_ 05 August 2009 01:55 PM

Bit of an update...

I managed to find another set of alloys (oz's) for the impreza
I have also sourced a local roll cage of a mate, so i'll be collecting that this weekend

I also took delivery of some nice slick's that will be going on the above alloys

Im currently refurbishing the above alloy wheels (going to be a nice colour once ive finished)

I will get some pictures up ASAP

I think ill be stripping the whole car this weekend, just leaving the dash and two front seats in pretty much, so keep an eye out for parts going into the for sale section.

Im also currently buying my mates half of the car off him, so the whole car will be mine shortly :D

Oil cooler has now been fitted, although i found it has a little leak (the connectors are loose) so i need to tighten them up, but that will involve me draining all the oil :O

Will keep this thread updated

I managed to start spraying one of the wheels last night (after having a nightmare with the spray gun i got, never buy a second hand spray gun!)

So here's what it looks like so far... what does everyone think of the colour :D

They may look a different colour becuase the pictures are taken at different times (on inside a garage and one outside - but they are the same colour)

beef-on-the-bone 07 August 2009 03:41 PM

get 'em on!!! :)

Jamz_ 08 August 2009 11:04 PM

lol ive got two more to do now... and ive got a nice set of slicks to go on them :D

utaka 09 August 2009 11:37 AM

those wheels look rude. i like them in crazy colours especially on black and white scoobs. ive got to start looking at finding a trailer aswell mate so do let me know how your getting on finding one:thumb:

Jamz_ 09 August 2009 12:21 PM

Well in a discussion on another thread on here, i know what kinda trailer im looking for...

Im keeping my eye out for a Brian James AM-T-210, which has a bed size of 4.0m x 1.96m and max weight of 2ton which is perfect for the scooby!

Now its trying to find a second hand one (not buying brand new)

Michelin Slicks 20/62-17" S9B

scoobyc 09 August 2009 09:13 PM

Where u get the slicks from Jamz?

they clio cup jobbies?

Also. if uve not done coilovers yet get yourself some BC ones.

I went for the cheapo option, wish i went for the full blown racing option now for a couple hundred more quid.

The BR series are top tho. Improved my cars handling no end!

Jamz_ 10 August 2009 09:38 AM

I got them from a guy who is advertising them on PistonHeads (Parts & Accessories : Michelin Slicks 20/62-17" S9B.) he's a canny guy, been sending him emails. He gets them in all the time and aye they are part warn Clio Cup tyres which are spot on for the rims i have.

Aye i already have coilovers on the car, they are Eibach Pro Race one's, i was quite happy with them, although the gemetry does need setting up asap (will be taking the car up to revolution once i have fitted camber bolts & and find a way to get the car up there)

Cant wait to get it back on track again :D

Trying to find a second hand will be like finding rocking horse poo!

If you do find one, you will probably find that the price isnt too far away from new price either.

Good luck in finding one though.

Jamz_ 10 August 2009 10:37 PM

Aye, its a tricky one, the problem i found with the Brian James trailers is that everything is an optional extra.... ramps, winch... and they soon add up

New one is like 1500+ and ive seen them go for like 800-1000 second hand in pretty much new nick

P20SPD 11 August 2009 09:25 AM

The Amax comes with ramps as standard, its just longer ramps that cost more money, and from memory mine came with a winch as standard.

If you have seen a BJ trailer go for £800 to £1000, its either a sh1tter, or is too small for your car. BJ trailers hold their money day in day out.

Jamz_ 13 August 2009 11:24 AM

Well the one've seen go cheap are in rural areas, like the top of Scotland and places like that (which isnt too far from where i am)

Currently bidding on a local one with the full works on it (been to have a look at it and its looks brand new)

Current update: Got the cage yesterday had to use a van to get the rear cage home as it wouldnt fit in my car without spending hours man handling it in, so i will be trying to fit it in the Impreza this weekend (hopefully without cutting in to get it in)

Arch 14 August 2009 09:37 PM

Looking good mate not sure about the wheel colour though and all that paint looks heavy :lol1:

Agree with steven above, Brian James trailers are not cheap to buy second hand. I got really lucky with mine as I had not seen one go of the age it was with the extras at the price i paid. It might even be worth biting the bullet and buying new. The Amax is the best trailer for the impreza very closely followed by the Clubman. I have the clubman with virtually every extra available and really cant fault it at all :thumb:

Well today didnt go too well :(

Good news is:
      http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1...74_2344415.jpg

I had to remove the doors to try and get the roll cage in:
      Attachment 50680
      Attachment 50681

Front wing off to get the front door off:
      Attachment 50682

      And here's the roll cage:
      Attachment 50683

Now the bad news... we tried for like 6 hours to get it in the car... and we got sick on the end and packed up.. any ideas on how to get it in the car without cutting it?

It looks like at some point, it did come apart, it doesn't now!

The guy said he had to cut the b-pillar to get the cage out of the car, but he didnt want the shell the car was in anyway, and was in a rush to get it out, but then again, it must have gone in the car the way it is methinks... i dont think it was welded in the car?!

Anyone shed some light on it for me?

      type-ellis 15 August 2009 05:43 PM

if he had to cut the car to get it out and you have spent 6 hours trying t get it in id say it prob aint gunna go in without doing something too it. If i were you i would cut it and weld a flange on it where you cut it so you can bolt it back together.

      P20SPD 15 August 2009 06:23 PM

Its the bar between the two b pillar posts, i guess that was added once in the car!
