Sorry for the downtime. Welcome To America.
Still getting the mails at 8am Stu- am I better off just switching my forum subscription to instant? I'm assuming the turnaround time may be a while if you're still dealing with software updates.

Funny you should ask that as i have been looking at this for the past few hours this morning. We are experiencing great difficulty porting some of the legacy plug ins over to the latest version as they are very incompatible with 3.7+
The problem is, we need to end up ultimately, with a stable, fast, reliable system that can be easily upgraded when the time comes for a security or feature set upgrade which can be a weekly event at times. Passionford for example took an upgrade recently and it took only 12 minutes. Thats how it should be.
Its an unfortunate fact that some of the systems incorporated on the forum at the moment simply will not work on 3.7+ platform, but its good news that some can be replaced by better systems from the newer version, albeit that means we have to recalibrate the new system by hand for each member which could prove to be a mammoth task.
Please bear with us, we are doing our best and have assigned a developer to this full time now and he is working with the webteam closely to ascertain what features we can drop, what need to be recoded (Lucky we own VBulletin at times eh?) and what can be replaced with newer, similar features and then reconfigured to suit.
We have been altering some templates that we think are causing the speed problems that SN has and are having some success there so it looks like we should be as fast as expected once done.
Sorry for the delay, but I would really rather not take the forum offline for days/weeks whilst this is done, so we may as well work through it a little more slowly and keep her online until we absolutely have to freeze the database for the changeover.

I doubt he's mad because he's not there! I wouldn't say I hate the US but I wouldn't want to live there either. Not everyone thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread you know! Everyone to their own!
Hi Stu,
Thanks for the update. I can confirm I'm now getting the mails at 8am now so thanks for that. However, sporadically (perhaps twice) in the last 10 days I've seen:
a) Yesterday's for sale forum updates sent instead of today's
b) Some subscriptions just don't come through at all (both forum and thread subscriptions). Forum updates used to include updated AND new threads. Can you check the emails will still get sent in the event that there are no new entries and just updated ones?
d) No notifications by email when I receive a PM.
I suspect some of these may be timing issues, although the notifications on PM's and thread updates were a surprise to me.
Any chance you could have a look for me when you get a moment?
Thanks,
Giles
