So Scottish Though secretly I'm a bit jealous as the missus won't let me have one Probably doing me a favour though

To the poster who was asking about what oil to use, all the best chippys use beef dripping (or sometimes lard) in their fryers. Tastes great

Isn't that a "Up north" thing?

Had a portion of chips whilst visiting the inlaws in Ponte Carlo and I couldn't eat them. Tasted rank and her old man said its because they are cooked in dripping.

As for deep fat fryers, I won't have one in the house. Makes everything smell.

I have to say that fryer was one of my favourite purchases. We put it on our wedding list and a dietitian bought it for us as a present, come joke

We really only use it for when we have chips but they taste soooooo much better than any oven chips I've ever had.

As well as my deep fat fryer I have a crinkle cutter. Mmm, crinkle cut King Edwards deep fried in high quality sunflower oil.

Mine sometimes switches off, then on again after 5 minutes, and keeps doing it. The switch sort of sticks in the "on" position, but it stops boiling..........weird.

In fact it's just done it now
I think it's possessed..............by the lecky company

With all this talk of fryers we decided to change the fat. We've poured the old stuff into the container the new stuff came out of? How do we dispose of it? I'm not overly environmentally friendly but chucking it out with the landfill rubbish seems a little wrong!

Its vegetable oil so its harmless: far less than the container, but most people wouldnt worry about that.
