The outcome of having a naffed maf sensor and doing nothing for the (less than) 100 quid they cost inc vat is a 2.5-3k engine rebuild, so really its up to you its far cheaper just to buy a new maf sensor and fit it.

not necessary for this problem as it clearly sounds like a failed maf.. but non-maf ecu's are only 1k not 1.6~2k

Now i didnt know simtek were none maf ecu's! i was thinking more along the lines of GEMS or Motec

I think i have quite a bit to learn boy's, Give me some plant machines i'm more at home fixing them. I've done exhaust and air filter what do you guy's think is best next Anyone local to stratford on avon......

Gutted, i'm not that far away to be fair but i can't get there and need it pretty quick i'll try the dealer tomorrow because they are not to far down the road. But if i get no joy i may take you up on the ofer mate cheers tho, i'll see tom when they are open i'm just of junct 12 of the M40

That's right MH we are 3 miles from Junc 12 and we have MAF 's in stock fitted free in seconds - jobs a good un.

Damm it i didn't think of api, used to know a guy who worked there to. I just bloody ordered it now. I know where to get the other stuff i need now tho hey? Are you open sat mornings?

Of course he'll have an data monitor to hand, won't he? It is almost certainly the MAF, given the fact that it's a 2000 and it's been disturbed lately. I'd personally budget for a Maf as an annual replaceable for MY2000 cars as they are that crap and engine rebuilds that much more expensive, so he could always buy one and plug it in.My money would be on it suddenly running fine again.

Right o lol well i'll put it to rest tom night as i'll be getting it and fitting it, Who is running a book on it working.Has anyone any special ways to insert the new one without stuffing it hummm???

Yep certainly are. 08.30 'til 12.00 sharp 12.01 and you'll be all on your own...

Pop in if you wish and we'll confirm that all is OK after the re-maf. remains in the background until deleted properly by the select monitor. No matter how many times you do a battery style reset.

No obligation, no cost, unless you ask us to do something else.

Hey hey hey everyone, I fitted it o yes i did and yes ohh yes it worked, Thank god my car is back. I reset the ecu and it's all good realy good, The hesitation it has had since i brought it has gone too yeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh. hail those who know more than me thank you all v much
