Hey guys I’ve just got back from the garage and you lot were right, its needs an engine rebuild.

OUCH

The guy was telling me that it needs a new crank and some other stuff that goes with it, can’t really remember what he said. It going to cost around £1000 in labour £500 - £600 in parts. The other option is too put a new engine in.

Ok guys what do you think I should do? And will a new engine be much cheaper?

thanks for the help

there are MANY other places to look at for engines btw.

There is one for sale in the for sale section now from a chap called going 4 400.
Have a look at sussex scoobies, a local forum like this, there may well be a couple of guys who'd be willing to help fit the engine for a few bacon butties and some tea

under a grand complete.

just above in bits, but then you have the hassle of removing them and advertising and selling etc.

pain in the ****, and you will be left with bits you cannot shift.

The rounded headlights, flat bonnet and twin-vent bumper are OEM for that car i.e. v.1. I'm 99% that grille though is a DR Motorsport early (with the 'plinth' for the badge) v.5/6 replica designed to fit the v.1/2 cars - see here: Front Grill. I have one of these grilles on my my v.1 - albeit their latest mould without the badge plinth.

If you look carefully at the OP's photo, the edges of it are curved properly to match the edges of the v.1/2 lights too, which the DR one does (obviously the genuine v.5/6 grille has straight edges for v.5/6 angled-edged lights).
