Off to Afghanistan for my summer this year
Go in June back in October, but I plan to go off to the Med with the kids when I get back.

Nice, I hope one day to see Tokyo and Hawaii. How much roughly is this costing?

LOL at the cheap foreign holiday folks when they find out how little spending power they have any more, post - Gordon

South Africa's looking tempting at the minute - garden route - time difference hopefully minimises jet lag for our little one and the exchange rate is still ok, unlike the evil Euro zone (or the US, for that matter).

I don't necessary think going on holiday is all about the exchange rate, it's about getting time away seeing and doing new things and re-energizing the batteries
Well it is for us anyway, and usually what extra you pay in flight costs, hotels etc to save in the exchange rate you could still cover with the euro holiday

Should be interesting. Have done bits of Highway 1, would love to go back when the kids are older.

I'm getting married this year so our honeymoon is in September.
We are spending a week in Orlando in a 5* hotel and then off on a Carribean cruise on the Worlds largest ship the Freedom Of The Seas.
We're visiting Haiti, Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Mexico.
I'm so excited but gutted I've got 9 months to wait!!

Youve booked too late! March - June would be far nicer: nice and warm but not too hot!

I tried to get the Feb to June slot, but it would mean me leaving my current post too soon so they said no and gave me the later dates. Bit of a bummer as I was hoping to get lots of running done while I was out there, but it might be a little too hot unless I can get out early in the morning.

Off to Barbados very soon. Haven't had a holiday for almost a year, so I think I'll treat myself to not travelling cattle class for once!
