nice to see some local interest, area 52 autosport do you sell bits, if so what is your number ill give you a call about the sump and pump, ta very much.
in the mean time i have a few questions for eveyone, what do i do with the little vaccum pipe on the top of the throttle body (no2 circle), it went to the charcole canister via metal pipes but thats all gone now as ive done the parrellel fuel lines, can i just put on a check valve like the no1 circle in the pic or do i just leave it? hey im no tony heart,
also now i have an external wastegate what do i do with the bottom valve (i think its the boost control) in the pic, the vaccum pipes went to the turbo and the actuator.
just one more, i need to get a longer fan belt as the alternator is on the other side, in the pic there is a bar under the throttle body, there will be a bearing on that so the belt will be long, any ideas, cheers phil.

Hi fella long time no speak,
You belt is easier then you think, find out a standard belt code, then measure with a bit of string the length you need, ring BSL Bremner in notts (0115 986 0464) with the info and they will supply you with the correct one, the info from a standard one tells them length,width,type etc, and the new length u supply,
remember to have the adjuster in the middle so you have something to play with.

hello again, thanks very much for the very helpful tips, ill get them sorted today, ill be putting a bearing on the bar under the throttle body for the adjuster.
just one more, the bottom valve in the pic, i recon it can be left off and borrected with the pfc when it goes on, anyone know for sure?

I had to leave the factory solenoid plugged in with my pfc. I was using the avcr solenoid and thought I could just unplug the original. This threw up the CHECK ENGINE light.
This is how I did the tensioner.
I basically used an old cambelt tentioner bearing.

nice one, thats what i have done today, just need to phone BSL Bremner in notts to get a 1080mm belt, where did you get yours from?
as i have got an external wastegate now, i think the solenoid will be redundant, i suppose ill have to leave it plugged in, so the check light dosent come on.

Compressor housing outlet into a 'T' piece, one run then goes to the side port of the Ex WG, the other run (from the 'T') to top port of the BCS (Turbo Outlet Nozzle in the above picture).
The side port of BCS (Actuator Connection, above pic) runs to the Top Port on the Ex WG.
If you are running the car in, or pre-remap than I strongly suggest just using a vacuum pipe run from the compressor housing to the side port of the wastegate only. This will give you spring pressure.
Use good quality hose, keep the runs as short as possible and well away from heat sources

thanks again jase for the help and the number, much appreciated, just to let you all know where i am at the min, the fan belt tensioner is on, the catch can is piped up (just waiting for a small filter), the rad is plumbed in (waiting for 2 10" fans for the under side), the fpr and fuel filter are piped up, the idle control valve has a filter on, the loom is out the way, ha ha, the 2nd oil cooler is back in place, still quite a few more little bits to do yet though, orderd a 1080mm fen belt from bremmer in notts, still need to sort the turbo oil lines too.

ill make it prettier at a later date, like getting rid of all the black pipes for a start, err.
hey jase do you sell a pump for the turbo oil return, ill be running it to the sump (above the oil level of course) or to the original oil return pipe.

You'll need at least 740cc injectors and even then it would be touch and go, Lateral (the project thread sponsor) does some modified and flow matched sets that are more than capable. However as well as the injectors you will need a fuel delivery system capable of supplying enough fuel at sufficient pressure. A stock Subaru in tank pump won't cope on it's own, on my car even the uprated Walbro in tank pump which feeds a swirl pot followed by an external Bosch 044 motorsport pump is marginal!

ha ha ha damp , quick update, sorted the scavenging pump for the turbo oil return today, just need to wire it up, fans are on the rad need to wire them up too, the fan belt is on (after making a mistake measuring it, ended up with a 1130mm belt), so nearly there.

i have a new spot of bother now, i got it started and it has an oil leak dripping from the exhaust side of the turbo, i have the scavenger pump hooked up but it still drips, why could this be?

it is drained back in the original place, under where the turbo used to be, i think i have worked out why the leak is happening, my guess is the scavenging pump is causes a hissing sound from the crank breather going to the catch can, so im thinking it is causing air to build up in the block and ups the oil pressure, this will give more pressure for the turbo oil feed and the seal in the turbo can handle it, causing a leak,
it cant be worn as its brand new, and never did it when i let the turbo oil return pipe drain in a bottle, also if i leave the pipe off the catch can it makes no hissing sound, but i cant tell if its leaking or not yet (not had time)

hello all again, just a pic of what it look like now,
but i have a few problems,
what temp do the fans kick in? i darent leave it too long incase the fans dont work correctly, and i do damage, they havent come on yet on there own.
the other thing is, there is oil in the inlet side of the turbo now, and i noticed the inlet side fins have a bit of play, what sort of movement is normal.

You need to make sure you have some coolant flow to the back of the thermostat, this is usually done via the interior heater and turbo. So you need to ensure at a minimum you have one of those coolant flows still in place, or the thermostat won't head up quickly enough and the car will overheat.

i have left the heater + pipes all entacked, and the turbo return pipe is hooked up with the other pipe that went to the header tank, look in the pic, no1 goes to the return from he turbo and no2 went to the header tank, if you cut the pipe in half, they would have both gone to the header tank, so i think that will still have the same flow as if there was still the turbo there, hope you followed that.
i have removed the thermostat till i sort things, what im not sure of is how hot it has to be for the fans to come on.

oh by the way KUNGLAO thanks for the drawing, i looked for ages to find an intercooler and this is about the best i could find, i would have liked one like you have drawn, but gave up looking, pitty.

thanks very much , having a bit of trouble though, heres a pic of the bore of the oil feed pipe to the turbo, im no expert but with it being down hill to the turbo now and the size of the bore, i would have thought it will flow too much oil to the turbo and make the seal leak.
i have looked at the old metal turbo feed pipe and the bore is about 1.5mm my new one that came with the turbo is about 4-5mm, what do you all think, is the bore too big, making oil pass through the turbo seals, causing a leak in the exhaust and intake on the turbo.

hey all again, back to my other problem before, does the flow of water go in the direction as the arrows, no2 went to the bottom of the header tank and no1 is the return from under the turbo (from the top of the header tank),
i have piped it straight through hoping the flow is the way the arrows are going, thanks phil.

mmm, so if no2 flows the other way to the arrow in the pic (to the water pump).
which way does the the under side of the turbo flow? (no1 in pic),
because if it flows the way the arrow is, this means they go in opposite directions, and that would be bad.
