You hear nothing but great reports about the John Lewis warranty and the customer care they give you, wait till you get a problem and have to deal with Panasonic direct like i had too with a problematic dvd recorder and they were not exactly helpful to put it kindly.
And Richer sounds is for the great unwashed amongst us..

JL will usually price match any shop anyway, and i know i prefer to buy from JL than from a shop that piled high with last years cack..

But seriously, any real 5 year warranty would do me,but you hear such great things about JL,that it would have to be a lot cheaper elsewhere for me to even consider buying from anywhere else.

hi all just a quick update i think its a 42px60 or something but i am sure its a 60 ,and i hear the gases start up or something then a click and it goes off then a red light flahes twice then pauses and repeats.
i have a company coming tomorrow to pick it up and hopefully dropping me of another until mine is fixed costs £55 to pick it up and test it but if they can fix it they will knock that £55 off the price of the repair.

thanks everyone for your help i do think it is the psu aswell as i mentioned it to the guy and he agreed it is a strong possibility .
there is some kind people on this site and its rare this day and age id like to thank ex webby again for his kind christmas offer he is like dot cotton .
i will be sending my children and lass to his house

Richer Sounds warranty is with the store.. not Panasonic. I have only today been looking at a 42px80 and i checked.

Thinking of getting one tomorrow.. £589 with a 5 year PANASONIC warranty from Sound and vision compared to £626 from Richer with the inferioir warranty.

Panasonic TH-42PX80B 42" HD Ready Plasma/IDTV INSTORE 5 Year Gtee!!! - Sound and Vision

Lovely set and far outperformed all the 1080p LCD's in the shop for SD tv (which is 99.9 % of my viewing and will be for a few years yet i suspect)

I bought mine from Richer sounds in summer 2007 and then it was definitely a PANASONIC 5 year warranty and NOT a richer sounds one. I've got the panasonic warranty certificate in the drawer upstairs!

Of course it might be different now but that may be richer sounds trying to upsell you something you already have from the mfr although most richer sounds do not do this sort of thing.

Bloody hell! If you'll offer your two daughters and your misses for a lend of a 42" plasma, what would you do if I chuck in a surround sound system and bluray player?!?

You're welcome. The offer's there if it doesn't get fixed.

Most places will offer the Panasonic 5 year warranty nowadays too

Panasonic

Also, looking at richer sounds website, they have 5 year AT HOME warranty too.

well nuway in hull (where i got it from nearly 2 years ago) have just been and dropped off a new 42" panasonic viera including the anchor bolts in the back of the tv so i can just pop it on my wall again while mine is repaired .
i dont suppose i'd get that service from curry's or comet and all the loan tv's were out with other customers and those where all 26" and 32" a massive praise to nuway in hull for help keeping my children entertained over christmas
