Did you find out the sex of your kids before they were born or did you wait and have the surprise?

Any regrets either way?

Firstly Mate congrats.

It sounds like you are in the same boat as I was when me and my partner found out we were having a baby. We had to find a place to live togheter etc within 3months of the birth.

We found out what sex we were having. Remember they predict the sex is not 100% when they tell you etc.

I went for a safe option of colour on the wall.

Just enjoy the ride mate. Nothing teaches you to be a parent mate.

Mrs Abdabz is 3 months pregnant - we had our first scan last week - a private one with a consultant to check for any early genetic defects etc and all was well :
We do not wish to know the sex and are designing the nursery in a neutral colour...
That said, what would happen if we painted the nursery blue and it turned out to be a girl? Would the child become a raving lesbian?

itsmainly due to cetain health trusts being sued by people who asked to know the sex, and then when it was inaccurate (as it often is, certainly more than they let on) the punters thought they had the right to sue the relevant trust.

If you really must know then that is your perogative, but dont say "because we want to paint the nursery" as an excuse
Just admit its because you're impatient buggers the kind of people who snoop for their Christmas presents

The baby will be in your room for the first six months anyways NOT in it's own nursery.

We didnt find out, it made the birth doubly special imo

First bit totally true. Make any excuse you like for finding out but it is basically because you can't wait. As i said you'll love whoever it is anyway so it doesn't matter. Plus several people on here have admitted finding out then painting in neutral colours anyway.

Our wee boy is in his nursery though not in the room with us. We were told it was a better deal because it stops them expecting you to be right there and then being too demanding later. Never bothered him at all.

5t.

We were told it's down to Asian families choosing to terminate unborn girls; therefore, obviously everyone can't be told

I don't sneak a peek at presents either. It was just nice to know for the first one. The second we chose not to go for a private scan.

why was it nice to know?
<not meant in the tone it's clearly going to sound like but> what did you possible acheive from it?
Science is meddling in human affairs again.

Regarding what you were told, well thats maybe, but I have family in a senior trust position down here and I have heard first hand the amount of money thats been paid out of court to people who got "duff" information, ironically it was explained to me when my mrs brought up the "do we want to know question" and was informed we had no choice.

It's only meddling if you go on to terminate because you deem it the 'wrong' sex. Science has 'meddled' in human affairs so much it's possible to live well beyond 100 against, what, 25 or lower before we discovered science?

Well sometimes it is nice to know. Just what is the problem with people wanting to know? It's not your baby!

I only asked for a reason why, jeez.
Maybe just maybe you may have had some better reason why its better to know and I would have furthered my knowledge somewhat.

Anyway,a boy and a girl popped out in the end.

I only asked for a plausible reason. If you don't have one its ok to say but you sounded like you had a good reason why.

You're right, the painting the nursery was an excuse, we just couldn't wait.

Our friends who live in the next road are also having a baby, they better not have a boy now, I sense trouble ahead.

The Mum's in the maternity home who popped at the same time all stayed friends, 8 boys and 1 girl. Its already causing friction
Our little man keeps swapping dummies with her so I think he's got a leg up on the competition
