The FIAs constant meddling with the WRC format & regulations has not helped retain public (or mainstream media) support. It has all got too complicated, with too many vested interests. Unfortunately Subaru & Prodrive are likely to be the biggest casualties. The whole reputation of the brand revolved around the rally bred pedigree.

The new shape is definitely not the only problem, but it has not helped matters. Totally nondescript & indistinguishable from every other hatchback out there.
Where can die hard Subaru enthusiasts go now??

I have owned 4 Imprezas over the past 13 years. It looks as if the unthinkable will now happen and I will have to move across to tweaked Evos next time around.

I suppose you are right, but at least the Evo X (FQ 360 especially) has retained some of the looks, if not the grunt of previous models! . If you want a 'new' 4WD turbo charged tunable and relatively affordable 4 door rocket ship what else is out there now??

Evo X easily gets 400 bhp after a stage 1 remap too

subaru are just paying the price for building a pants car that hasnt sold well enough to generate the cash that pays for wrc !

Just to be picky, there were 2 versions - a 1.6 with 110bhp, and a 2.0 with 180bhp (engine from the C4 VTS). Still FWD rather than 4wd tho

wonder if subaru and prodrive will make the 3 new hot imprezas, the 330bhp wrx, 360bhp sti and 380bhp wrx sti. I saw in a motoring mag that these models are due to be released next month iirc.

I do hope the lads at prodrive come up with a way to make a s2000 impreza.......major task but they might be going about it the same way as citreon did.
